Challenge Ben 4

Hi Guys, welcome to the 4th lick. This time it's a diminished legato lick in F#. It uses a 6 note repeating sequence on each string. When it gets to the high E string you need to use your pinky (or ring finger depending on whether you use your pinky or not) to slide up to the bend !! Lots of fun biggrin.gif

This is my go at it. Decided to play once with picking and once with legato.

Wow, now that's some seriously badass playing right there ! cool.gif

I love both versions, that picking one sounds really good... and your tone sounds even nicer than usual, have you made some adjustments ? smile.gif

Thanks for your kind words, Ben. smile.gif

I used an Ibanez which has a V8 as the bridge pickup, with the exact same Guitar Rig 3 preset that I normally use for active pickups. So that was a winning concept?

H4H you beast ! cool.gif

I'm a bit rusty, I think. Tempo 90.

https://soundcloud.com/alfafirefox/ben-4

AP + Legato 2 times.

I'll try to get on 100 bpm in end of week.

I don't know much about pickups but that V8 definitely did the trick smile.gif

For that bend after the legato sequence - try to get it so the slide/bend & pick stroke all happen together if you know what I mean ?

I did the the same as the other guys with AP and a Legato run. I'm not the best with particular lick with the sliding bend but figured I'd throw something into this weeks challenge. Also my legato with ring/pinky is obviously weak so I recorded a version of it separately. dry.gif

Man, you guys can all play like 20 times faster than me blink.gif . My right hand has always been slower than my left. I'm workin' on it though. Doing Ben's licks certainly help.
Here's mine with a quick backing track. I 'hear' it as D phryg/dom ...

No problem laugh.gif I figured it out and I'm blazing already in 100 bpm !!

How do you guys play this lick ?

I use 1,3,4 fingers until the high E string I use 1,2,3 and bend with ring finger.

That is how I played it. I tried playing it with the pinky too but found it better for me to slide/bend with the ring finger.

I use 124 and 134 alternately, and bend with 4.

That's an improvement V-Man smile.gif

On the 2nd take.. I notice you miss out the 5th note (played by the ring finger ?). So when you're playing an ascending 3 note pattern pay extra attention to making sure all the notes are being fretted evenly smile.gif

Cool stuff !

Has been a long time since I posted anything so decided to give this one a go also but twisted it a bit. You know I like AP smile.gif It is at 120 bpm, I don't think I can do it faster with AP..

Very nice picking !! Don't neglect your bending and vibrato though.. it would be even better if you can go seamlessly from the picking lick straight to the next part with no stopping smile.gif
