GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Caribbean Music

Posted by: Kristofer Dahl Mar 19 2011, 12:05 PM

There are many different types of music coming from the Caribbean. First check out Sinisa's new lesson, "http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Around-The-World-Merengue/", and then post a reply to today's topic.

Which is your favorite style of Caribbean music and why? Can you distinguish the difference between them?

Damn, did nobody reply to this ?? ohmy.gif

Hmmm, well maybe it's because they are like me, in that my knowledge of Carribean music is very minimal.. I couldn't identify any particular style, only Reggae. smile.gif

I'd have serious trouble distinguishing between different styles of caribbean music. I always thought Merengue was a term for caribbean music in general, but this also is a certain style. Still I think knowing different kinds of music from all around the world is great, even if you don't really use these styles in your own music. But as a musician, one should always be open minded and listen to new things.
