Hello all guitar freaks, As myself tongue.gif I have been thinking about getting a full tube amp. And i tryed 2 models in a store, Fender blues reissue deluxe and fender Hot rod Deluxe. Does anyone one of you have some experience of these amps? Or is there some other good amp i should look for? I dont put so much weight on built in effects, i am rather looking for a good "clean" sound. All help appreciated smile.gif

I have the HR Deluxe and it is a really solid amp, especially if you're after a nice clean tone. However, I don't have any experience with the other one so I can't give a fair comparison.

I also hear that the Marshall DSL401 is really good, but will cost a few hundred (USD) more than the Fender HRD.

I have the fender blues jr. and it's great for around the house at least... great tube amp, plenty loud too for jamming with. I think you would have to mic it for a gig though...

One thing I forgot to add: the HRD is LOUD.

LOUD.

Loud as in, I've never put it above 4 on the clean or dirty channel (it goes up to 12 on both) and I'm in a band with a VERY loud drummer. Even at 4 it drowns out everyone else.

It's strange though, because there's a really big volume gap between 1 and 2, so at one it's good for playing in your bedroom but at 2 it's almost loud enough for a band situation.

I should also add that I've never seen someone disappointed in the HRD. I personally run a Gibson SG Special -> Behringer Hellbabe Wah -> EHX Big Muff Pi (the HRD dirty channel is a bit muddy for perfectionists like me) -> Boss GE-7 (goes great with the Muff) -> Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and it's the best my rig has ever been.

Really hope all this helps.

yes i noticed that is were very loud when i tryed one. I also noticed that the built in drive was not that good ( i guess im a perfectionist too tongue.gif) Good to hear it works good with external effects, i will probobly use that.

But i have decided to go for the blues deluxe, the difference is not that big really (basicly the same amp), but i liked the sound a little bit more. Thx for the help
