You pick up your guitar but you cant play anything right?
At the beginning of the week I felt my playing had come on leaps and bounds, and like nothing could stop me!! Everything I played sounded pretty good as I was feeling pleased with my acheivments. But the past 3 days, Ive barley been able to to play anything correctly!! I guessed work has been pretty exausting, and I feel pretty exausted mentally because of it. My question is, do you any of you guys ever get days or weeks where you just sound "blah" Is it best to sometimes just put it aside and have a rest? Yes, we all have those days. When that happens you really need to put down the guitar for a day or two and relax. During that time you will get motivated and you will be back to playing correctly.

You pick up your guitar but you cant play anything right? No not really, my playing is always divine I know what you mean but that usualy comes for me when I sit down to play wven though I really dont feel like it. Then playing lacks the spark. And some times it takes quite a bit of playing before it takes off, like first 30 minutes blows then I get warm and play as the usual me. Not meaning I can play anything right, just the usual me -------------------- My bands homepage

I know what you mean about the 30 minute thing, ive been there , many times!!
Im often pretty hard on myself if i dont do a full practice session daily, I think im going to rest up till i feel rejuvinated. Im pretty sure its against the law to make your workers carry heavy loads up and down a long flight of stairs for an hour anway Good night GMC'ers, ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzz -------------------- ![]() ![]() mysql> SELECT * FROM master_name WHERE ((firstname = 'Paul') AND (lastname = 'Gilbert')); "The Fundimental Difference between Paul Gilbert and Buckethead is that Paul Explores the Good side of the force, while Buckethead Explores the Dark Side of the Force" :) |

Sometimes need to have a rest m8, you`ll find a couple of nights off and you`ll pick up the guitar and be suprised that you nail the licks straight away that you couldnt get anywhere near a couple of nights previous.

Yes, it defanatly sucks. It usually only happens when playing electric. But I can usually go play acoustic guitar or harmonica so its not all bad.

I get that feeling like every week. No big deal to me honestly. I never took practice seriously. I just screw around and come up with riffs on top of my head and try and play them.

Sometimes it helps to take a whole day off (or even 2) and when you pick it back up, you will feel like you progressed amazingly

I need about 20 minutes to warm up, but I tend not to forget stuff.
I'd like to get better compositionally though, I write really boring riffs - riff rutts a lot and I run out of inspiration fast This post has been edited by Owen: Nov 23 2007, 09:49 PM -------------------- Don't Panic.
