Hi,
Is anyone interested in forming an internet band? So far I have a friend who wants to play drums, and I was hoping to find another guitarist, a bass player and a vocalist. The idea is that we'd pick a song to play. Then we'd each learn the parts and individually record our parts (both on video and record the audio direct into a DAW) and then I'd put together a kind of video collage of each members video accompanied by all the various parts mixed. Obviously you'd need a way of recording video and be reasonably competent at recording your performances audio-wise. I think it'd be quite good fun, and eventually we could try writing our own material together. I guess style wise first we'd be doing cover songs, probably start off with kinda cheesy classic rock stuff like Free and Chuck berry and that kinda thing and maybe start branching towards some more metally/progressive stuff if it goes well Is there anyone that'd be interested? -Adam |

Haha, cool.
OK, well as for a song, I wanted to do Free - Fire and Water, but I'm not sure if that's too complicated for the drummer or not. It has a nice solo in the middle that we could do as a kind of question/answer thing or something that would be neat. I'm obviously open to taking suggestions of songs, it should probably be reasonably straight forward to play for us all for a starting point though I guess. -Adam Oh and we probably could do with a vocalist, unless we chose an instrumental track or play the vocal melody on guitar or something! QUOTE I can join too if you want Haha, I think we posted at the same time. I think Gitarrero could do the bass if he still wants to, and maharzan is doing the other guitar as he got in there first. Though it might be cool to have 3 guitarists if there's a song we can do that there were enough parts for us each to try. We could do like johnny be goode with an extended solo section where we each take a solo or something, that'd be quite fun. I'm assuming you play guitar? |

You know what I was thinking? Lets actually try one song first to see if we can succeed. If that goes well, lets actually start making backing tracks and give them away for free or sell them when we start making more original songs or even covers. We can do things like, track without drums, without guitars, without vocals etc.. would be great if things go well.
Is this the song? -------------------- Checkout my YouTube & my band Nissim's YouTube channels.

Yep that's teh one, though there's a better version, I couldn't find it on youtube but it's on spotify. It's the live version (1970 Farfield Hall, Croydon).
I've made a skeleton track, with some guide drums/guide rhythm guitar, which I have attached. I've also got a guide track for johnny b goode if we wanted to do that, I gotta re-record certain bits though as I intended it to be a shred version so it's setup a bit fast at 140bpm. I'll drop the speed and bit and upload it over the weekend. I'm not sure how we should manage who plays what and when? I guess we can all double up the rhythm part, but the hard part is what to do with the solo? I guess it depends if we want to duplicate an existing solo (in which case we can assinging parts out to share) or if we want to create our own ones? Is there anyone who wants to attempt the vocals? -Adam

Is this the one? The trick would be use create a drum track or just metronome would do, record rhythm/solo/bass and redo the drum if theres a live drummer. Then we can add in vocals. I guess you have the chords, can you post them? I will figure out the solo. -------------------- Checkout my YouTube & my band Nissim's YouTube channels.

That's not the exact one, but it's very similar, so it'll do!
Yea I figured we'd use that guide track I created and attached to the last post, record each part + video individually in time to that, and then re-record the drums with the live drummer. The bit in the middle with only drums is the guitar solo, there's no rhythm part under it in the original (we could add one in to thicken it up possibly - we'll see how it sounds). I'll either create a dropbox folder and e-mail you guys a link to it (to upload your raw recorded files both video and audio) or figure out some other way to transfer it. I'll get the johnny b goode one up hopefully tomorrow. |

As to the chords for fire and water,
Not entirely sure how he does it, I *think* he's using power chords but with an added octave (i.e. 5th fret low e, 7th fret A string and 7th fret D string to form a 1, 5, 8 power chord). Occasionaly he seems to throw in the odd open chord, but I think it sounds fine doing it with power chords. Intro; D5->E5-> G5->Gb5->D5->E5-> G5->A5->D5->E5-> E5->D5->Db5 Verses: A5->B5 A5->B5 D5->E5 A5->B5 A5->B5 A5->B5 D5->E5 E5->D5->A5 Chorus: B5->D5->E5->B5 D5->A5->E5->B5 E5->D5->Db5->E major open chord And I think that's it, it just repeats in the following order I think; Intro, Verse, Verse, Chorus, Verse, Chorus, Guitar solo (length of verse + chorus) Verse, Chorus, Outro (which is mostly just the drums and vocals, finishing with a B5 chord at the end) |
