Wiggle the string and push it down that should help. then you'll need to push the peg from the inside of the guitar use a coin or something hard.

Should come out pretty easily

Sometimes when I'm restringing my acoustic, the pegs are stubborn and don't want to come out. I fold up a piece of cardboard and use it to push the peg up from the inside, as Ben suggested. Works every time. The cardboard is to protect your fingers and lets you use more than one if you need more force.

Don't hammer or try pushing from the outside in. The peg will be tapered and it will just lodge in the hole even more

I think the cardboard and pushing from the inside is a good idea indeed. My acoustic is also a bit too old to go Rambo on it smile.gif Hopefuly, this month I will take it to the luthier to give her the treatment and upgrade she deserves!
