Hey Muris smile.gif

Years ago when I was in Bosnia around "New Year" i watched some Bosnian TV and found a broadcast of a concert of Tifa.

I couldnt believe the tapping solo I saw, performed by a young guitarist... Now that Ive seen some lessons of you on GMC I think it was you who played for Tifa smile.gif A great Performance. Ive always been a big fan of Yu-Rock, I love Bijelo Dugme and I just wanted to ask you, if you could do a lesson that captures the feel of a Dugme song called "Blues za moju bivsu dragu"? I always found the beginning of this song to be very cool, not fast, but very soulful and nice, just a slow blues. Who else would be able to do this kind of lesson better than someone who played with a Dugme Member himself smile.gif

Btw, I visited an Amp Guy in Bosnia last summer, bought a Marshall JMP head of him, he told me that a guy from Sarajevo bought a Fender Twin Reverb (an old original) to use it as his main clean amp. Was this also you Muris smile.gif?

Mrak si smile.gif Rock on!!

Well it could be me since I played with Tifa for couple of years, and I still do from time to time. wink.gif
Tho I never had Fender Twin so that mystery guy wasn't me biggrin.gif

Ohh yeah,Bijelo Dugme is legendary band for sure, they left great mark on Ex-Yu pop-rock scene.
I'll try to do a lesson inspired by "Blues za moju bivsu dragu". wink.gif

Ivan,I have played with almost every biggest start from country and some from region as well,
but am I one of the most wanted in Bosnia?
Hmm,not so sure, might be,but they still prefer accordion a whole lot more laugh.gif

Wow, you really played with some of the greatest vocalists from the Yu-Rock Scene! But you also deserved it, your playing is just pure awesomeness!

Glad you'll try to make a Dugme lesson smile.gif Thanks Muris!

I think there are some very good guitarists from Balkan, Vlatko Stefanovski, Muris smile.gif, Dario Simic, the guy from Juzni Vetar (He hasn't got so many spaces to fill in songs from Semsa, Sinan etc., but the little space he got from the accordeonists he filled with some great and tasty licks)...

Hisham, were you a studio musician at that time in Yugoslavia??

I was born in Yugoslavia smile.gif In 1988, a town called Odzak, north of now Bosnia, about 30min away from Slavonski Brod.

During the war our family had to immigrate (I was about 3 then and my sister only 2 years old). We eventually made it to Switzerland. The war is a horrible thing, especially the one in yugoslavia, so many civilians lost their life for nothing...
I still feel connected to the old balkan music. The music today is too commercial and too fixed on looks... The 80's Turbo Folk was far better and more musical than nowadays Folk (I just hate these new singers, Karleusa, Aleksic, and the list goes on and on). The war destroyed it all i guess...

To this day i visit Bosnia a lot, my father also knows some of these Band guys from back than, who collect Amps and Guitars now among others, and it's cool to hang out with these guys and to talk about music smile.gif In Switzerland I may have a good education and a good living standard, but the people here are so cold and i don't like their mentality that much, whereas in Bosnia i see the sheer poverty people live in, but their mentality feels right to me, their very kind and still humorous smile.gif And besides that, the best food comes from Bosnia, Cevapcici, Baklava etc. wink.gif good stuff!

Bijelo Dugme had reunion few years ago, they did few big concerts, took money and that's it. biggrin.gif
Divlje Jagode still plays from time to time,Lipovaca works on many projects
at the same time so Jagode isn't his prime and only occupation.
No idea about Riblja Corba,I think I saw them on TV few years ago
but I don't know if they play at the moment.
I guess Ivan and Bogdan can tell us more.

Hey guys, I'm trying to catch up a little late... smile.gif

About Riblja Corba, they still do gigs or "tezga" as we say, they do ok, but they are dinosaurs. They were truly a great band, tons of influence on rock music here, and a real balkan old school rock. When I say Balkan I don't mean they used regional musical motives, but they had that "mentality" (like in lyrics or so) throughout the career. They tried to imitate western rock and did a pretty good job.
Bijelo Dugme was more of a real Balkan rock group, Brega often put various folklore melodies directly into bands music, but I really don't like Dugme too much. They are good too, but I'm not that generation that's all smile.gif

Riblja Corba are playing all the time now , but I think they are going little downhill but still a great band..
Main attraction here now is Van Gogh..Released a very successful album last year I think..Putting out great shows...
