GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ Total Recall Re-make !

Posted by: Ben Higgins Jul 7 2012, 07:41 PM

I had no idea they were remaking Total Recall, check it out ! My initial thoughts before watching the trailer were 'It's not gonna be the same without Arnie' but the film does look like it might be good cool.gif

Yeah - can't wait to see some cool blockbusters this season! smile.gif

I'm really looking forward to new Spiderman, Batman and Total Recall smile.gif

(heheh sounds stupid when I write it like this - seems that movie makers are running out of original ideas for the movies)

Wouldn't call it a remake, more of a...."Reimagining". A lot of key story events have been changed and altered from what I hear.

kate bekinsale and jessica beil , need I say more

Posted by: Azzaboi Jul 8 2012, 07:42 AM

I actually just watched the original a couple days back on tv. Bit old, but pretty good movie. I still don't like the idea of all these remakes, there's too many of them - most rubbish. It's like they can't come up with original ideas anymore...

Haha, I guess not ! biggrin.gif

I'm not overly impressed with Colin Farrell, don't see what the big deal is about him but hopefully I can ignore that when watching it

I don't think it can beat the original, but if they don't make a disaster I won't mind watching a new version, the plot si so good cool.gif

The film Total Recall is based on Philip K Dick's great story 'We can remember it for you wholesale' so arguably isn't an original idea but an adaptation. Good film though.

Anyyone who likes Total Recall or Blade Runner or Minority Report or Scanners should check out Philip K Dick as he wrote the original stories. If I had to choose one of his books though that has yet to be made in to a film it would be 'Man in the High Castle'.

my first thought was "man, I'm getting old...they are making remakes of movies I know from my youth now" laugh.gif

But I'll give this one a chance, even though I don't like Colin Farrell...but the two chicks are nice tongue.gif

By the way, I saw the new Spiderman and it was really good! They focused on another storyline than the first one, plus this one has Emma Stone in it...

I would be shocked.. the world would be all wrong if that were allowed to happen laugh.gif

I won't even bother watching this one, not even the trailer.. First of all it can't possibly be as good as the original and secondly I really don't appreciate it much when some guys lacking imagination come up with a remake of some old awesome movie. Just leave the good old stuff alone guys mad.gif tongue.gif

Yeah man, i totally agree .
The movie industry is hungry for more and more money and they want to suck it out so fast from people's pocket so they can recycle the old movies into stuff like this. Not to mention how much japanese , korean, european movies have passed this "remake" in last 10 - 15 years... mad.gif

I think the world is generally unimpressed with Hollywood and the remake craze dry.gif

Yeah...not a Colin fan at all. In fact, it's usually a "red-light" that I won't like the movie! I swear, he was in ONE movie that I REALLY liked...can't "recall" at the moment. tongue.gif

I'm not a fan of re-makes usually....it isn't it time for a re-make of THE RUNNING MAN?!!!!!!! I love that intro/main theme too! (Also, the book by Steven King, while writing as Richard Bachman, is actually amazing!)

Hollywood ran out of ideas long ago, now they are remaking cult classics! Next up BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA with Nick Cage smile.gif

Now there's one movie that definitely does not need a remake !

In fact, I think any Schwarzenegger / Stallone film should be exempt from being remade. smile.gif

Just imagine, in 20 or 30 years time when we're all older, if they try to remake Rocky or something !! laugh.gif

I remember watching the original not too long ago and noticed all the TV monitors in the movie were all cathode ray tubes laugh.gif I just find it funny because this movie is supposed to be in the future, yet their monitors are older than our current LCD units biggrin.gif

I saw the new Spiderman few days ago - it was a lot of fun smile.gif
Recommended for a cool move theater night!

Can't wait for The Dark Knight Rises - I had a blast watching the previous movie.

I'm also looking forward to seeing TDKR, although I'll probably wait 'til it comes out on dvd. I never go to the cinema really. smile.gif
