Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi Lester. Nice to find this old lesson from my archive at REC! smile.gif

The overall close on this lesson but there is still some more work to do in order to polish some important details. You basically should pay attention to timing and pitch/tuning. These are the two things that are giving problems.

About timing, the problems appear mostly when you play mostly pull offs. The most notorious sections are for example at 00:15 and at 00:21 but I suggest you to review the whole lesson because timing isn't tight. Practice it over the original take and try to make those pull offs sound tighter.

The second issue that appears is pitch that I can notice if it's related to guitar tuning or too much left hand fingers pressure. The problems appear for example from 00:28 to 00:32 and in other similar parts. Please check out if this is a guitar tuning problem or something related to your fingers pressure, and feel free to write me a PM to discuss about it.

Keep on the hard work! wink.gif

Hey Lester !

This is a generally good take, just need to get the polish on it wink.gif

Gab's pointed out some key areas of improvement.

I'll add that you also need to give some attention to the 'octave' chords that appear at 0:30 and later at 0:54. It sounds as if your ring finger is also catching the B string and sounding that as well. You want to try and avoid any notes sounding apart from the 2 key notes involved.

As you probably know, use your index finger to rest over and mute the D string so when you strum all 3 strings you're only sounding the notes on the A and G strings.

(I think I've got the correct strings, I didn't look at the tab.. if not, just apply what I said to the appropriate strings involved) wink.gif

Hey mate smile.gif

As the guys said, you are on the right track with the lesson and I think you are very close to mastering it if you isolate the sections in which Gabi and Ben have pointed out the details that need fixing. practice the changes slowly and focus on timing and definition. After that, you should use a very low gain tone to practice the lesson over the original - it will help you notice the eventual issues if you also decide to record it and it will work out your power wen doing those open string figures wink.gif

After making sure you are confident enough with recording it, get back to the previous tone and record another take over the backing this time and place it here wink.gif

All the best,

Cosmin

Hi Lester,

yeah, man a good take!

Just a little more precise on the 16th notes and some more accents maybe with some vibratos or pinch harmonics on the longer notes and you'll get this "extra cool thing"! tongue.gif
