Much of this was done through Kore 2 which Native Instruments in their 'wisdom' decided to discontinue.

Having said that, it's forced me to find new instrument and effects developers, and I've discovered some amazing stuff that I probably wouldn't have looked for otherwise.

They sort of replaced it with MUTATIONS product which is pretty darn sweet If you haven't tried it, it's worth a look.

This is not for everybody. I doubt most folks on GMC would really want or need it, but if you are planning on doing anything "cinematic" it's a real handy bit of kit. I don't know if NI bought Heavyocity (makers of mutations) or just licensed their stuff but either way, having it work in the contact player and being able to stack modules is pretty handy.

Might be wrong - years snce I looked at NI stuff - but isn't most of Kore based on low level Reaktor programming? If it is and you have time (plenty of time) you could replicate most of it in Reaktor.

I have all three of the Evolve series. As brilliant as they are, they're not a replacement for Kore. Heavyocity is an independent sample library developer. They guys who own it also have a sister company, Heavy Melody Music, who do game and soundtrack audio.

Kore is an amazing and irreplacable product. It integrates all the NI audio engines: Reaktor, Guitar Rig, Absynth, Massive and FM8 and also hosts 3rd party VSTs and VSTis. It operates on a nestable matrix basis with complex routing abilities so it allows one to create new instruments and effects through layering and routing. One of its most useful features was the morph pad which allows 8 snapshots and the ability to morph seamlessly across the pad allowing near infinite variations of the underlying sounds. The morph pad removes the need for layers and layers of automation in the DAW.

Ahh. Didn't know any of that actually so thanks for the info!

I've used the Evolve series for visual projects and so far, it's gone over well. I see what your saying about Kore, I've never used it so I had no idea it was that expansive. But Evolve can be built up using wads of modules and splitting up the keyboard to create very cool beds, backgrounds, even melodic underpinnings for other tracks. Maybe because I never touched KORE, I sorta look at the evolve stuff in a similar way despite it's shortcoming. As you know, you can stack as much as you want in kontact player so evolve, strings pro, even studio drummer can all be in the same lineup. It's really flexible, but I"m sure you already know this and it's not the same evidently or you wouldn't be mentioning it.

Sorry to hear that NI has left a product you value so highly behind.

Even though Kore is discontinued I'd still highly recommend picking it up from ebay or elsewhere if one has the opportunity. It's a unique product and there's not even a hint of a competitor around. There are a few Kore tutes on youtube which introduce it and are worth a look if you're interested.
