GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ Atlanta Has Been An Interesting City To Live In For The Last Week

Posted by: purple hayes Sep 25 2009, 07:58 PM

http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2009/09/flooding_in_the_southeast.html

Photos 1, 2, 20, 21 AND 23 are relatively close to my house. Picture 7 is from the city David Wallimann used to live in.

I spent 5 hours trying to get to/from work on Monday in the rain. Tuesday the weather was fine, but the traffic was crazy because so many roads were washed out. I took the day off after I couldn't get to work.

They're predicting more rain this weekend.

Very sad. Damage must be catastrophic, not just for things, but also for people.
Is it very common in the area?

That's horrible. Last year I went to Atlanta for a weekend and got trapt in the city when it had the major gas shortage and people were leaving their empty cars everywhere I looked.

Living here in the midwest that is something that is always just one rainy week away from happening to many of us. We had floods this spring. Luckily my main house did not flood but the home that I rent out was flooded.
If I am not mistaken Georgia has had bad drought the last couple of years. Hopefully everyone will recover. Its harder these days with the slower economy.

I've lived in Atlanta for 20 years and I've never seen it like that.

It's so terrible! And I just read about a typhoon over the Philippines with 60 dead. Sad days.
