I genuinely have no idea what im doing with these, neither of them are finished obviously laugh.gif

I just listen to 'Two Steps From Hell' and take characteristics from their music...kinda. My transitions are a bit 'shakey' right now and doesnt have flow.

In the first 'actiony' one I started bringing in some metal drums near the end and was thinking of getting some heaveh riffage, but from a mixing standpoint it seems IMPOSSIBLE, only way i've been able to stop both of these from clipping is just to put a limiter on it. >.>

Any feedback/advice will be welcome!

Man!!

This is awesome stuff! I LOVE it! What software/plug-ins did you use to make this? I'd LOVE to hear these ideas in a full song!

The first one reminds me of a Hans Zimmer movie music and the second one reminds me a lot of Oblivion and Skyrim music, which I LOVE. biggrin.gif The only thing I'd change is perhaps make a more "dramatic" resolution, because you made some awesome build-ups! Anyhow I really enjoyed this and thanks for posting it, mate smile.gif Keep up the brilliant work smile.gif

Lets see...

For the strings I mainly used 'Symphobia' and an expansion pack for 'Nexus' called 'Dance Orchestra'

The huge orchestral drums are in 'Stormdrum' and 'True Strike'

Choirs are from 'Requiem Light'

The snare/cymbal thing at the end of the first one was just the base drum kit from EZDrummer.

Im still getting used to all these plugins, a buddy of mine just gave me his copy and im slowly trying out all the different sounds.

Ah, im a beginner myself.

Best advice would be to sit down and just listen to pieces you find exciting. Attempt to recreate what you think made it 'exciting'.

For example, a very simple melody and simple strings in the background throughout the most part. Its just the layering of sustained strings and the horns etc. that give it a HUGE sound. While staccato strings and horns drive the song's melody. (Like in mine, its just going up the E minor scale diatonicly, E -> F# -> G -> A. Rinse, repeat and harmonize)

This is obviously backed up by the drum and bass style 'breakbeat' drums which give it a modern and again, driving feel.

Oh, and stick to your guitar playing roots. The intro to my first one is just 'pedalling' off the low E string a la thrash metal style.
