Hey guys !!

Psychedelic collab is next one!

One of the greatest living guitar player David Gilmour was the inspiration for this little backing track! His improvisations on the basis of a single chord are simple and yet amazing.

I would like to show me your improvisation, so here's a chance to use all yours guitar effects, delay, reverb, chorus, flanger, dist ... you name it ... to write your story !!!

Attached File  Psyho_collab.mp3 ( 1.68MB ) Number of downloads: 296

Chord progression: Cmin smile.gif

You can use C minor pentatonic,C minor natural, or whatever you think that would be interesting and unusual !!!

A Two audio takes:
One with the backing track, and the second only the guitar........ You already know this smile.gif

Deadline: May 1 !

What a great track, and "inspiration" for a collab!! I've been away from GMC this month, but hopefully I can drop something on this tonight or early tomorrow morning and send it in.

Hope I'm not too late!! Had fun with this.... it was a 1 night late-take, and I "layered" some riffs rather badly. I'm pretty new to my interface and recording, so it's not "cd quality" by any means, but it represents some fun ideas that could be polished with more time and effort. Hope you enjoy!! It's more of the rock/The Wall: Young Lust side of Gilmour I'd say.

Oh....here's the take w/no backing. The file was too big to upload here, so here's the link to it in "dropbox".

I'm sorry because is just only one student was ready for this, but anyway, one but valuable - Derper !

An excellent solo, beautifully devised and even better played ! Phrases are liquid and well-connected, you also cared about the timing, which is very good, congratulations. What I would put is maybe a strictly clear tone, and short phrases with a long stereo delay. But I haven't objections to this kind of improvisation as it is your, with heavy dist - as long as sounds clear and articulate ! Well done my friend, congrats wink.gif

Thanks so much Sinisa!! This was a great collab/backing, so I'm surprised more people didn't get involved!!

I also caught this right near/on the deadline, and in the past I haven't given my collabs (for your awesome backings!!) quite enough attention. My last few were rushed, and embarrassingly sloppy! Anyway, though "rushed", I tried hard to come up with a more solid track and a more cohesive flow.

Thanks for the comment on timing! I feel the intro lick could still be tightened up a bit, but it was actually tougher than expected to get it RIGHT on (therefore it was left alone at some point).

Well....I had fun!

Man, that backing and Derper's take really rocked ! cool.gif

Really great use of double stop bends !

And the distorted guitar tone also works as it could be an 80's era Gilmour smile.gif

A little late on this.....but THANKS to all for the feedback and support! I had to pull it up and listen to remember what I played on this one.

And thanks Ben....I was certainly attempting to dial in a Gilmore-esque tone! Glad you noticed!

Now, I'll have to look up an example of a "double-stop bend". tongue.gif I never know exactly WHAT I'm doing, and just kind of do it by feel. Thankfully I have a decent ear, or all of my time before GMC would have been a waste.

Aweome Job man I really liked that opening riff! smile.gif And the mood set by the solo itself, that tone kind of reminds me of
Pat Travers. Congrats on a fine take.

Sinisa I miss you man! your video chats were a great help and inspiration to me. Thanks boss wink.gif
