Hey Ben, I completely agree with you. On the other hand it is extremely difficult to do what you are saying, for example while improvising something. Improvisation happens without thinking so how can I think that I should stop doing something and do something else when I am doing something automatically without thinking tongue.gif tongue.gif

you are right and sometimes when improvising we always tend to go for the "safer" option.

what I do sometimes after I`ve learned a bunch of new licks etc is think about a solo before its coming up and almost say to myself "I`m going to try that little lick I learnt" or a particular sweep or tapping pattern (in the right key of course lol), then try and work it in, doesnt always work, and I can certainly be guilty of "over doing" it and adding in just about as much as the "new" stuff I`ve learnt all into one improvised solo, but something may work and the next time we play that song I`ve laid down a standard solo that I`ll probably play more or less the same again each time.

all that is best done in the practice rooms of course! heheh

ah, the story would have read better if it was reversed.

caught trying to steal a sword armed only with an AC/DC album, that would have Shook me all night long!! ph34r.gif

here ya go http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samovar

not really a huge fan of tea, although Ben`s g/f did actually make me a wicked cuppa once that I thouroughly enjoyed!

actually thinking about it, he didnt have any donuts on show that day either, they must have been hiden unsure.gif or eaten!

Coffee though, well, thats a different subject, and in the UK we certainly have no idea on how to make a decent cup of coffee mad.gif

Defining Armageddon was always one of my favourites to play live with The Reckoning just has such a great feel, and it goes without saying that Benito`s guitar skillz are second to none!

I love the vocals, he brings some slight and subtle melody changes to the originals that in my opinion really lift certain parts on both songs, truly an excellent find!

Ben really bought some of the best of me out in that all too brief period and now I have some of that experience recorded for eternity biggrin.gif

my thanks Mr Higgins .. smile.gif

It's a really cool idea but it doesn't work for rock drummers unless they get a electronic drum. As you said you are a duo (I assume that without drums) this could work for you. However I think that you could do something similar with a small mixer that allows you to make two different phones mixes.

Actually yes! thats very true, hadnt thought about doing that, thanks! sometimes the answers are right under your nose! cool.gif

Hey guys, been a while, I`ve been busy getting a rock duo together but starting to get more time back for myself biggrin.gif

anyways, at the moment for us rehearsals are not a problem apart from all the PA gear etc that we have to lug around and set up/breakdown, one rehearsal we got talking about if we couldnt practice where we do at the moment (which happens to be free and we can practice more or less when we want for as long as we want), what are other options?

of course, we could always go to rehearsal studios etc but they can get quite pricey, (our old one was £45 for 3 1/2 hours), or find a hall etc, but again, could have noise restrictions imposed etc etc.

so, doing some surfing on line I came accross this :

Attached Image

Called a "Jamhub", for us as a duo using prerecorded drums, bass & keyboards this could be a really good solution, if your a full band unless your drummer has an electronic kit then I couldnt see much use, different models for different amounts of inputs, and could possibly be used in some form of "live" environment too I`d imagine?

I wondered, has anyone here seen this in action before or even had the chance to try or indeed use one for any purpose? would be very interested in hearing your opinions etc

Hey guys!

been a while but gives me great pleasure to announce this new SI Lesson from Christian in the style of Die Toten Hosen! biggrin.gif

Christian has waited patiently for me to approve this lesson (thank you smile.gif ) and has reworked some quality issues for me too, so if you`d all drop by and look it up it`d be much appreciated and of course something new to learn!!

not anything that I`d heard of before but this tune has a great groove!!

thanks Christian for your continued efforts on the SI board, much appreciated!!

I have to thank a friend of mine for helping with the lyrics although that is the reason why we ended up getting a bit smutty with it lol laugh.gif

Been great fun and of course Andrew must take all the credit for a brilliant production! biggrin.gif

yes its a darn shame, the album was so near yet so far, was really looking forward to hearing that all come together.

but .. onwards and upwards, personally I`ve had a blast playing the gigs with you, I`m still stoked you asked me in the first place.

The new generation of The Reckoning will be stronger than ever .. a metallic will that cannot be killed \m/\m/

same for me, a very small room which a lot of the time resembles a chinese laundry! but I make do the best I can and have a green back drop that I hang up.

The biggest problem is getting the distance between me and the back drop for chroma key stuff but it doesnt work out too bad, its more for a bit of fun than anything else so it doesnt worry me too much smile.gif

I love marmite!! cool.gif

theres kind of a double thing going on there though, they could spread it out and not have to bother re tarmacing that stretch of road forever and the workers spreading it out get a tasty snack on the job, nice, everyones a winner biggrin.gif
