So, I haven't been very active on the forums in a while, which is because I've gotten a job and worked my behind off tongue.gif

Because of that, though, I'm gonna get a pretty sweet paycheck soon, and my recordings in my current "Guitar -> Marshall MG30DFX -> Line In" on my soundcard sounds pretty crap unless I spend an huge amount of time mixing and equalizing stuff... After which it only sounds less crap.

I know most of the problem probably lies in the Schecter I'm shredding (*cough cough*) on, but that'll be replaced by a LTD Eclipse or an Ibanez of sorts in the future ^^

So I'm gonna buy me an interface of some sorts, and I haven't really gotten into all the different kinds of boxes I can buy. So I'm basicly looking for recommendations for anything that might be pretty decent. Currently I'm leaning towards the Line 6 Pod Studio at the moment, since I've heard that one can record vocals as well...

Any thoughts?

I can recommend line6 pod studio ux1 for its price quality and versatility and most of all - ease of use. I use it for all my home recording needs and works well.

EMU 1212m has top notch converters - it is just an interface though and you would need a separate mic amp if you wanted to record vocals ... I have a 1212m coupled with a twintrak pro.

I think a Line6 device will work fine for the mostpart. I'm using a Line6 X3 Live as sound interface and it's perfect if you can settle for only one XLR input.
It's got all the basic needs like
- 1 XLR mike input
- 1 instrument input
- L/R live out
- L/R direct out
- phones
- Aux in
- MIDI in and out
- S/PDIF out
- FX loop
- USB connection

The only thing I miss is to have another XLR input but for the most part it's a great interface fo a guitarist.

Line 6 POD Studio sounds just like the device you need. It's plug & play, and very usable, you can't go wrong with it definitely.

If you want something better, go for EMU0404USB, or EMU1616m

If it is just about an audio interface to connect the guitar to your computer you could also check out M-Audio, they have some cool interfaces, I have one of them for my laptop, small, handy, does the job.
