GUITAR RIG 4 CUSTOM PATCH (Blues/Tube Lead)
Merry Xmas! Happy Holidays! Here is a custom made Guitar Rig 4 patch for those who are trying to get a more tube/blues sound out of it and I have included a preview file so you can hear what it sounds like ahead of time. I did put in quite a bit of Gain (naturally), while trying to retain a tubey sound. Enjoy!

UPGRADING TO GUITAR PRO 6 (Not Free But Worth Looking at )
I've started creating GUITAR PRO files to go with my lessons and now There is a version of Guitar Pro that works with the Fretlight Guitar. So you can see the notes light up on the neck and hear what's being playing by the software. I really wish this was around when I was starting out. It's not for everyone, some folks are offended by it. But I'm all for anything that gets you to "better" quicker.
Here is a video showing some of the features. If you don't have a Fretlight guitar, Guitar Pro 6 is still a killer upgrade. It's well worth getting.
Here is a link to a site with tons of FREE guitar pro tabs.

FREE PLUGINS! (From VOXENGO)
For those of you who have made it to the stage of recording where you are working with "Plugins" in your DAW (Digital Audio Workstation Software - Like REAPER), here are some killer FREE plugins from Voxengo. The TUBE WARMER is a great plugin and puts warmth back in to tracks that may sound a bit to "digital".
If you are still new to home recording and words like plugin, daw, etc. are a bit of a mystery, by all means take the plunge and download reaper. It's a very professional DAW and highly compatible and increasingly popular among musicians. It's easy to get stuck using whatever software came with whatever hardware you happen to buy. Try to fight that if you can, as it will restrict your ability to work with others and collaborate when they are using software you have never touched.
Here is the link to the FREE PLUGINS!

Wow Todd! This is good stuff, imma start by getting the spectrum analyzer as well as that free video editing software!!
Thanks man

FREE BUNDLE OF KILLER PLUGINS FOR YOUR DAW! (Digital Audio Workstation E.G. Reaper, Etc.)
Here is a big bundle of plugins that I found recently and they are all FREE. My fav price! Some great sounding stuff in here. Mac and PC compatible. Here is the link to download.
http://www.meldaproduction.com/freevstplugins/
Even better, they have a great tutorial on MASTERING using these same free plugins It won't make you Tony Miro but it will get you started and give you some background so that when you go to a mastering session, you are prepared.

Quick screen shot of what is in the bundle.
In addition to the KILLER Bundle of Plugins (See Below) I found last night, there is a new FREE version of the Kontact Player. This thing is the bomb. Runs as a plugin in any daw (reaper etc.) and they give you 50 Free software instruments plus free effects.

For those IZOTOP OZONE fans out there, big news! VERSION 5 is out! You can download the DEMO for free. There is also a "Pro" version with extra plugins that you can try as well. It all looks pretty interesting to me
http://www.izotope.com/products/audio/ozone/download.asp?v=standard&utm_source=iContact&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=iZotope%20Product%20Announcement&utm_content=Ozone+5+New+Customers
I have to agree that the pro version is not the way to go. Maybe it's right for somebody, but it does seem crazy pricey and sort of a "wha?". But I am STOKED to see a new version of OZONE The standard plugin is only a couple hundred bux (only) which is a killer value.
As you mentioned for home recording "bedroom mastering" it's really hard to beat what this one plugin brings to the table. If folks are mastering for release, they should send their tracks to you to be honest. If not you personally, a mastering engineer they know and trust. But for demos, song work, etc., things not intended for a "Hard Launch" where there is little or no budget, this thing RAWKS!
A small donation for your topic,Todd
