Band Leader - JVM!
Beginners to intermediate alternate rock band (kind of radiohead, smashing pumpkins, nirvana, pixies, stereophonics etc)
Band Now Full, Please PM me if you are interested in joining this band for future recordings
AudunESP - guitar/vox
Rated Htr - guitar
timono - guitar
JVM - odd job man
manhunta - guitar/keys/vox
News: And then manhunta joined the band, and there was much rejoicing (), welcome to the band! I think five band members is enough for now, but once again any offers for bass are still welcome.Okay people, it seems Moaning Lisa is a full band now that timono has joined the ranks! However I'm still willing to accept anyone wanting to contribute bass. Hopefully we can get started cranking out some ideas post holidays!
Rated Htr joins the band as second lead player, welcome to the band
We have our first band member - AudunESP! He'll be doing vocals and some lead guitar work for us.
--Hey guys - since the band has no members other than moi right now I'm looking for everyone. Top priority is a singer but also looking for 2-3 full time guitarists.
Since we're bound to have a lot of guitarists (I'm expecting but not requiring that we'll end up with 4-5 guitarists, regardless of what our other contributions to the band are) I'll probably be splitting us up like so:Rhythm guitarist - probably one dedicated person, or at least dedicated per song, it can be switched up as we do different stuff Lead guitarist x2 (which will probably have more to do with being able to record similar tone moreso than your technical ability - after all this is a beginner band and I'm putting emphasis on sounding as good and as tight as we can over technical playing)
So thats three of us - I will not fill any of those roles. If we can get that, we'll have a four member band. But that would also require that one of the above have double duty as a singer. And as mentioned by smells, I'm hoping for a better bassist than myself and or someone with better backing track making capability.
My role within the band with probably be more of a production/management role. I do want to get some guitar playing in, so I'll probably add one or two tracks to each of our songs - but I'll also be doing my best not to take over a song. Also unless we have a better mixer/masterer among the above mentioned band members, that'll be my duty. I'm not fully versed in those arts so it'll be a learning process if we don't find someone else.
I was thinking we could start with something along the lines of Gabe's Muse lesson. I'd like to have a couple of our covers be based on some of the lessons here if that's okay. Not exact copies, but heavily based on some of them for sure. This works well because the lessons are right here, fully correct tab for each of us to be able to learn the song etc. The only downside would be we'll have to help our singer come up with a melody and or some lyrics.
If you'd rather do a cover of an already established song though, make some suggestions
[edit] Also, any thoughts on band name? Keep or not? Any suggestions?
I can yoin this band temporarliy as just guitarist, rythm or lead, same for me, but as soon as i get a mic i can start as vocals. I have a little limited vocal range and i do squise a bit in singing but i do progresses :)Btw. i use Pod X3 and Cubase for recording, just for info.
edit: DONT change band name, "moaning lisa" is just genious!
Sorry, didnt see that i wasnt suposed to post here, may you delete this post?
Okay, you're in I think I'll place you under lead now since you'll be doing vocals. When might you get a mic?
Also, what do you think about our first song Audun? Considering you're the singer, would you be okay with working on one of the lessons here, knowing you'll have to make up a melody and lyrics for it (we can help of course)?
By the way for those concerned I'll keep an updated news section at the top of my first post (second post of the thread) so check there for any announcements or anything
I think i will get the mic soon, if not before christmass ill have it in the christmass days. I think the song prefer is totaly cool, i love and im very fascinated by muse. Ill actually scream like a little baby to get the lyric and melodymaking job love songmaking, made some songs myself
Okay cool, we'll see what the others think (when we get a couple more members obviously) but it might be a good idea to go ahead and start reviewing the muse lesson anyway, even if we choose not to do it it's a great lesson, and if we do you'll have a head start
Sent you a PM regarding the band JVM, hopefully, I can enter
You're in
Still looking for another guitarist (going to copy the following from a PM I sent Rated Htr); "I guess it would have been more accurate to say the band would have x amount of guitarists, instead of two lead and a rhythm, because I'm not going to stop for example, a lead guitarist from contributing a riff or whatever." and hopefully a bassist, but don't let any lack of bass knowledge stop you from signing up
Hey guys
i would really like to be in this band dunno if there's still a spot left
i'm not yet able to record but i'll buy a mic in holiday's and i will have an multi-effect on 19 january so than i can start i think.
timon
We're looking for a rhythm guitarist, if you think you're up for the task then you're in You'll be doing other stuff too probably.
Well, i'm in then
Great, welcome
Thanks =D
So we have:
AudunESP - guitar/vox
Rated Htr - guitar (slash photoshop? )
timono - guitar
JVM - odd job man
By that comment, you want me to do something in photoshop? xD
hey, ive been told theres room here at the band with the best name by far
if thats true is there any chance i could join?
I can play keyboard (a little bit)
i'd say im a begginer/intermediate lead guitarist (more begginer latly) and an intermediate rythm guitarist
i have cubase sx3, a POD X3, EZdrummer.
ive also been told i can sing like chad kroger (not sure if thats how u spell it) so i guess i could do some vocals too.
Sure, I suppose we could open up one more spot, keyboards and more vocals are always good You and AudunESP can switch on vocals or something sometimes. Also, Matt Bellamy of muse (since we're doing the muse lesson) is a pianist/keyboardist too, so some kind of keyboard melody might go really well with the lesson too.
So we should go see the muse lesson?
Yeah, if you guys are all cool with it you might as well go learn it, get some ideas etc. For example I think it'd be awesome to have a part where it drops down to just drums and bass, then I could do an acoustic variation of the riff which would be cool for you guys to solo over. Matt (of muse) likes to use effects so some kind of simple cool sounding solo would be great, but I'm getting too far ahead of myself
[edit] I'd like to get started laying down some tracks in about two weeks, but if you guys are up for doing it sooner I can be flexible.
So you want me to do something original inspired in the muse lesson, correct?
I'm thinking we'll actually use what Gabe has tabbed and play that (doing any variations etc we want), it's already structured (has a verse etc) that could just be brought directly over to song form. But yes, something original for all the lead stuff.
wayhey
dont think i can go as high as muse stuff with vocals like ill have to leave that one to AudunESP.
and lmao at manhunta lol.
im good to record anytime too.
well theres the muse lesson learnt.
im not a great fan of muse but it is fun to play
Cool Do you have it down 100% so you can play it up to tempo and hit each note every time you play it? Important for recording
yup not a problem at all
Well I'll let you guys sort out what you wanna do for vocals, singing lower is fine with me
Can I suggest me for lyric writting? Started to learn the muse lesson, not to hard, should be able to play it in tempo in 1 or 2 days... ^^
well i can do a high thing with my voice but i cant seem to get words out.... just "aaaahs" and stuff . maybe have my high ahhhhs in the verse with you singing over the top then for the chorus have harmonized vocals? ofcourse we'd need a backing track before we plan the vocals melodies and stuff
has anyone got any arrangement ideas?
maybe
intro
verse
chorus
riff
verse
chorus
breakdown with solos n stuff
chorus
just an idea ;p
i see theres a few guitarists already, i could just do keyboard/vox if you want.
When you mention the intro and all that are you referring to specific parts of the lesson or just as a general idea?
either lol
Here's the guitarport* tone I'm using by the way, if anyone can use it. I think it sounds decent. Not a good lead tone but good for rhythm at least.
*gearbox
ill put it on my POD now
i have just found a great phaser type effect that would suit the muse lesson riff. not sure if u wanna use it though.
a_Muse_ing.l6t ( 2.34K )
: 252
Aswer one thing for the newbie here...What program do I use to open those attached files?
Well, you have to have gearbox. which is a line6 product - comes with stuff like the toneport that I have, guitarport, or any variation of the pod if I'm correct. Just kind of useful to share between us that have it. Not a big deal if you don't If you do, just download it and it should open directly in gearbox.
by the way manhunta (hope you dont mind if I keep calling you that ) the noise gate was meant to be in the ON position in that file, eliminates the little hum you get but doesn't affect the tone.
I don't have nothing from line6 ..Just Fender
Let me write please...I'll give you a banana
hmm, I'm having fun adding phaser Play the riff with this:
I'm almost done with the lesson, than I need some indications of what I'm suppose to do, have anything in mind?
(Writing with the pick in my hand xD)
Well, I think after each of us have gotten the lesson down I'll put up a bass/drum track with a basic structure, and we'll designate whoever can play the riffs the best as the rhythm player who'll then record over it. When that's done we can see what it sounds like, tweak structure as needed etc. The whole time if anyone gets any ideas for melodies, riff variations etc just put them in here and we'll discuss it.
I guess it'll keep going through that process until we get a final song structure down with bass/drums/riff, and hopefully by that time I'll be able to do a decent job mixing Then we can work on lead stuff and vocals for it.
JVM what other styles could be incorportated in this band? Id like to join, but from the list of bands ive only listened to nirvana and im not too much fan of grunge.. But anyways, are there still spots available?
I think we are full but like Smells said, all bands will have to rotate for others to play while there are still 5 bands, so it's a matter of speaking with JVM, statting what will you do, rythm guitar, lead or something else and telling Smells
Sorry Fret I think we're full for now. Talk to smells though, he's gathering more people to put on rotation to either form a new band pretty soon or else take a spot in a band during the next song or so Good luck!
hehehe I was quicker than you JVM xD. I didn't understood well if I could by the way...Can I write lyrics based on the muse lesson or what?
Yeah, go ahead
Ok, I'll try to do some now and than send it by pm to you
yea u can call me manhunta lol.
ive finished the lesson (can play it at 115% original speed perfectly.... i like to play things faster so i know i can play it slower all of the time) and have some basic vocal/keyboard melodies in my head.
tell me what to do next mr leader man (hope you dont mind if i call you that :P)
sorry for the double post but i noticed the other bands have signatures with their names on and due to the competative spirit i couldnt let us be outdone by them
and JVM, i thought i'd make you a second one with a slight difference.... ill let you choose which one you use, if any
cooooooooool.
ill look forward to it
JVM, any directions on what to do next?
Hmm, for now I would just say write down any ideas, tab any guitar parts you can come up with that you like (riff variations, lead licks, etc) for future reference for yourself, and generally just brainstorm.
Ok, will do...If I come up with something, I'll post it here
Yo manhunta, I structured it a little more than i was going to, but it's not quite done. I need to edit the timing on a certain part so that it doesn't feel so unnnatural.
Also I've included a couple of different beats throughout the structure (that can easily be replaced with the other ones) so if there's certain ones you like more you can give me feedback etc.
Will get it to you by tomorrow afternoon
I've come up with something of my own based on the muse lesson, will record it and post in our upload topic when I've got the chance
[edit] man, I had some problems last night ignore this post.
Yo manhunta, here's a drum track. No bass, I'll get around to that though. The idea for the silent part was that you do the thing right at the beginning of video five, it's supposed to go silent with the cymbals just as you begin to play that, then jump back into it (but not sure if the timing is right on that part - if you need me to edit it I will) and after that it's up to you basically. See if you like it, if there's any timing problems, etc. Then upload something with guitar and we can work on it some more
musedrumtrack2.mp3 ( 1.15MB )
: 222
other than that have you planned where each part goes where? if not i'll just make it up as i go along
ok, ive attampted my part, its in the uploads bit. if anyone wants anything changed or redoing, please tell me.
the drums track was perfectly in time, nice one
I'm just getting confused on what to do, I tried to come up with something totally original based on the muse lesson but after listening your tracks, I'm lost xD
yea, i was expecting the riffs to be organised into a structured song but the drum track seemed to fit well with the actual lesson.
cheers smells
...
hmmm...
that sounds like a thank you and an insult at the same time lol
Oh, ok my bad xD...Well, I had to learn the actual lesson in order to come up with something of my own so, I guess it wasn't so bad, besides, it's already made so no harm done
Well, I kind of intended this drum track as something to just jam on a bit - yeah it does follow the lesson structure for the first half or so but after the silent part, we can kind of take it wherever. I just think the lesson itself might be a good intro that we can build off of, now that we have something recorded (I do intend to have us do a lot more with this song) we need to work on the structure of it. Any suggestions? What sounds good where, etc. Manhunta, I might take your guitar only upload and chop it up and edit my bass track and see if I can get some ideas from it.
Also the drum track was partially a test for me as I've never really tried putting drums to something before, so following the lesson structure was easiest for me, then after that I experimented a little.
well i think the way it is at the moment sounds good.
from what weve got i'd put a small solo after that bit then back into a verse then chorus. then a longer solo. then chorus x2 or 3 fading out.
thats how i would do it.
Hmm, I think the phaser is pretty cool but maybe only for certain parts. Like for example I think it sounds great in the part on video 5, but I think I'd prefer it just normal otherwise, what do you guys think?
I'll work on it some more and try to make a structure of the drums today or tomorrow.
Right now as I see it it's kind of like the intro up until the part where the drums go silent, then it ought to be the verse, chorus, verse, solo, chorus, verse, outro. Or something similar, I'll make drums to accommodate both ideas, and if anyone else has any structural ideas let me know and we can try them out as well. Also I'll try to add some bass next round.
Oh and munta, I'm not sure if you used the tone I sent you or not (haven't tested it yet) but if we could both use the same tone at least until the final version, it'd make it easier for me to just add stuff and test out some ideas myself. If you already did cheers, just checking really Good job on those riffs.
yea, i used the tone u sent and the phaser tone u sent too (although i toned down the phaser as it was a little strong)

I've just bin fooling around with Gabe's lesson a little bit on GuitarPro and i came up with some aranging and vocal ideas, and some bass riffs.
Actually there was suposed to be a marker for Chorus there, but it was gone, the "video nr 5" riff is the chorus
BTW. can anyone tell me how to convert photos into URL?
I don't have guitar pro, are there any free programs you guys know of that can open guitar pro files?
Don't know any JVM... :/
Try this one JVM http://www.tuxguitar.com.ar/ I just installed it and it opened AudunESP`s gp5 file no probs
Hmm, I have tuxguitar actually but every time I try to open a guitar pro file it says an unknown error has occured. Weird :/
Nope, doesn't work I don't know why.
I thought maybe my problem was http://www.tuxguitar.com.ar/tgwiki/doku.php?id=doc:error_soundbank as I do get this error (only if I open tuxguitar first then try to open the file, which works but when I try to play it I get the error), but I did as it said, even reinstalled java and nothing.
you could just get the GP5 demo from their site. it has some restrictions but atleast youll be able to look at the files.
Ok, i have a question about where we're goin. are we just suposed to make a cover of gabes lesson as a start, and now brainstorm for next song, or are we aranging gabes lesson into a song or use it as a basic?
If we're brainstorming for next song, i have to say i have made some heavily muse-inspired licks, which i think we might be able to use
Well I'm still thinking we can turn the lesson into a full song, a "cover" if you will, but since the lesson is only so long it'll be an "inspired/expanded cover" and theres lots of stuff we can add
But keep those ideas around, who knows when we may want them
any idea on a timescale? its good to set goals.
or are we just going to go with the flow and take it easy?
eithers good
Well I was originally planning to have us all start recording after christmas (and I think some of us are still waiting on recording equipment) but that turned out not to be the case So eh, not at the moment for a timetable.
hey JVM I'd definitely be interested in this for the future!
and i can definitely say i fall in the beginner/intermediate alternate rock lover category haha
Good to hear Joey, even though we have enough people it's always good to have interested people like you and fretdancer
Okay guys, what I have here is a slightly updated drum track. I'm going to add some bass, but right now I can't really get a good recording tone for bass (quite a different beast than tone for guitar) so until I get something that sounds decent and, well.. bassy, I'll hold off.
So I guess, does anyone have any tips for bass recording tone?
you have Line 6 software right? im sure theres bass presets for most things.
good place to start.
as for muse bass, id say a little fuzz or distortion (dont listen to muse alot so just guessing from what i have heard)
ooooor, you could just use midi bass. theres VST plugins (a bit like EZDrummer) for bass to (forgot the name)
Eh, it all sounds really muted and bad to my ears. Here's the drum track, I'll experiment with bass some more when you have layed down the guitar and see if it sounds any better in the mix.
The way I have the drums set up is kind of meant for you to play through the lesson twice, at the silent part do what you did last time, but when the drums kick back in after the fill play the lesson one riff again and it should work out fine.. I think that'll be our verse, and then I want to experiment a little with some powerchords for a chorus (common muse thing), if not we can use the lesson four riff for the chorus.
So I think it'll be intro -> silent part -> verse -> chorus -> verse -> solo -> chorus -> big ending or something like that.
At least lets see how that sounds, but for now lets lay this down and I'll let you guys hear whatever I come up with for a chorus then we can decide.
Oh and audun, I think I'll use your riff for the acoustic on the solo part, but perhaps bass too, it's cool.
ok, just a quick clarification. you want me to play the lesson through twice?
and that drum track is the same as the old drum track from what i can tell :S
Well, it's slightly different in the changes and a couple of rhythms, not in structure, I'd just like you to record again in the structure above. Sorry if I am being confusing in any way, I'm still getting used to this songmaking thing
But anyway yeah, you kind of are playing the lesson "twice" in that you'll end up playing through videos one and two again, but not exactly because I think that will be our verse riff. Also, lets hear it dry with no extra effects this time around.
I may end up having you record the thing three times and pan one left, one right and then phaser in the middle or something (as marcus seems to do, with the panning) cause I do think the phaser sounds pretty cool, but thats certainly not a requirement, and if we do it'll be after everything else is done (structure, solos etc) just to add a slight "polish" as a finishing touch if you know what I mean.
you mean like this?
(i used a different guitar for this recording so i can get used to the neck.)
munta_dry_2.mp3 ( 1.31MB )
: 197
Yes, perfect! Though now that I think about it, the drum change after the drum-in (where its beating kind of hard then changes back to a more laid back beat) might not sit perfectly well with the vocals, but It'll more than do for now.
So now what I'll do is see about adding a chorus, I'll just throw some stuff in there and put some drums to it, then we can see if we like it. If we do, the only thing left to decide for the drum/guitar part is the solo section, where I think I'll use one of audun's riffs on an acoustic. then if we like that we have ourselves a structure and we can move on to beginning to record vocals, lead stuff etc.
Good job
sounds god to me, if you want to me to record/rerecord any guitars gimme a shout. ive got plenty of free time for the next few weeks
Take a listen to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_BPfX8nuqM, this is kind of what I intend for a chorus, it goes from the riff into a powerchord thing, simple stuff but sounds pretty good IMO (unless you don't like muse ). Not that I'm trying to model our song after this one, but it's kind of similar.
[edit] Oh, by the way, can I get just the guitar for that? If you saved it that is, it'll just make my editing job a little easier but it's not necessary for you to record it again if not, since my little chorus experiment thing isn't going to be the final draft or anything so it can sound a little choppy.
that verses remind me of "like a stone - audioslave"
infact... the lyrics are pretty close to it too... and the post-chorus... hmmmm
if thats the kind of chorus your after i could do some good backing vocals for that. but only if the house is empty, im a loud singer
EDIT
i knew i forgot something!!! sorry, i didnt save it either.
ill remind myself next time.
I just had the thought that some keyboards would go GREAT in the chorus, do you have any melodies in your head? I've been listening to some nirvana stuff also as related to the chorus, simple but good stuff.
Often times for a chorus (being the "sing-along" part) the vocal melodies take over the guitar part, so also another thought would be that since the chorus is kind of comparable to a vocalists "solo section" perhaps you guys should handle that melody? Just a thought. I can upload yet another drum track (kind of sloppily extended though) that continues onto the chorus which is just a very simple beat if you guys wanna mess around with it. Or I could upload a track without the sloppy edit, but it wouldn't have guitars.
i usually like to add keyboard last as most the time keyboards following the vocal like and blending with the guitar fills out the mix alot more and sounds awesome harmonizing
as for vocal melodies, we should wait for whatever guitar/bass parts are going in the chorus to be recorded and close to being finalized to get the right harmonies down.
but i think AudenESP should have the first say in vocal melody since he's gonna be doing lead vocals (or atleast thats the impression i got )
then we can have our opinions/changes afterwards
I understand what you're saying, it's just that I don't want to come up with a chorus progression thing to dictate how the vocals sound, I'd rather have a catchy sounding vocal melody with the guitars just kind of behind to back it.
But anyway I'll keep on trying to find something good for the chorus.
What's our status JVM?
What's our status JVM?
Hey guys. I just got some awesome tickets to see the redskins against the cowboys (GO SKINS) in DC, so I'm going to be up there for a few days. Once I get back we can kick into full gear, but of course you guys can do whatever while I'm gone, I'll catch up. Have fun
I'm gonna be without internet for a few days since I'm going to rent a house far away from here with some friends to pass the new year...Happy Holidays everybody
Ho m8s, long-time-no-talk, Im getting my mic monday latest!(think i might get it at friday 18th.)
But whats the matter is following: do you want me to record the riffs we have 'till now? can record it in the weekend. and ill post some posible vocal ideas if i get the mic before the weekend:)
JVM, can you get the chorus vocals/anthing idea recorded soon?
yea, it'd be nice to get this going again.
Arr yeah I know I said I'd get it to you in a day or two like a week or two ago. Was in the process of moving and such at the time though, I'll make sure to get you something to work with today. And I need to catch up with Bogdan's collab too.
no problem, i bought an acoustic so im occupied till your ready
I'm occupied as well, with studies and other guitar stuff, so when you're ready...
Okay guys: Here we go.
moaninglisa_musedrums.mp3 ( 2.84MB )
: 196
I'm not 100% sure if this is the final, for a few reasons:
1) We still need to to test out the structure of it and make sure we don't for example, want to add another verse.
2) I haven't really come up with anything satisfying for a chorus. Maybe its the song but its just not coming to me except for real simple power chord stuff. So if you guys have any ideas at all lemme know. Until then the chorus in the drums has a fill seperating it from the verse, so if we don't want to record anything now we can leave it open. Munta, if you just record the verse parts for now (unless you feel up to doing a chorus) then I can easily take your recordings, edit the drum track to better suit a chorus we come up with at a later date and put it back in there without the need for you to re-record.
3) I kind of want to add more and more varied fills and stuff
Except for number 1, I can do all that behind the scenes without you guys needing to record anything but once.
Here's the structure of the track I just uploaded:
Intro (all the way up until about 0:57 where the drum-in kicks the song back up)
Verse
Chorus
Verse
Chorus
breakdown (acoustic backing, for soloing over mostly)
Chorus
So when it gets down to the breakdown part don't record anything, but also don't feel pressured that you have to mute your guitar abruptly when it gets to that point, most likely I'll add yet another fill to cross that part over with what comes before, so when I go back to make some tweaks with the drums it'll sound fine, but a suddenly muted guitar might not sound good - just a thought
Overall I think I was a little bit too ambitious with the drums for a first time making a full drum track, trying to add too much stuff when I could have probably just made it a simple bass drum snare bass drum snare thing the whole way through, but at the same time I'm learning quickly so I hope you guys have some patience with me
One final note: lets record this one dry, we can always add effects later. If you have any problems with it or anything (I wouldn't be suprised, a bit late here ) I'll make sure to fix them asap. Sorry for any delay boys now lets ROCK!
[edit] final final note Munta, just wondering if you want to record the rhythm twice so we can pan it. You don't have to, its up to you. But if you do just make sure its reaaaallll tight
Sounds good...My ibanez is being fixed so I'm using an old guitar I have, don't know if I'll be able to solo with it since it's not ment for rock or metal, but I'll try...Just chilling listening to your drum track [ Nice work ]. Will try to imagine the song and I'll let you know if I come up with something
Cheers
right, i have 2 assignments due this week and 1 next week, but i'll find some time between then to get this done.
should b done asap
well, long time have gone guys, and i have bin playing the riffs over and over again and trying to make a somehow decent vocal line, and i've made it! i have come up with something which i think is atleast a decent vocal line.
i'll record it soon, maybe tomorrow and i want to hear your replies, ok?
Great Can't wait to hear it.
ok, im gonna try record my part today, but my hands still not well from being broken. i wanna get this done tho!
ok, ive done my parts, its sloppy though, my hand dint work aswell as i thought it would.
ive done 2 versions, "left" is using the dimebucker and "right" is using the APH-1. their both using the same patch and can you can use both if you want to pan left and right. if not, just use one.
if you want them redone it may take a few weeks for my hand to heal properly
munta_right.mp3 ( 2.85MB )
: 203
munta_left.mp3 ( 2.85MB )
: 200
Hey munta. What I'm going to do is use your APH-1 take. Deal is, they both sound really good in stereo, a lot heavier etc but the tone on the aph-1 is better IMO (is it your bridge or neck? or are they different guitars?) and there's a buzzing/open string ringing on the dimebucker take, which isn't a big deal. So what I'll do is record a take myself (unless you want to do it) then we can have a crushing tone
And I'll keep working on a chorus thing. Likely what we'll end up doing is I'll be panning my guitar to the right, yours to the left, and I'll keep playing into the chorus and then you can later add some kick to it on top of my recording (thats easily done later though).
So I'll get to work on that and if nothing else I'll have an upload with no chorus tomorrow. Good work
sounds good to me.
yea, i told you they were sloppy
the APH-1 is in my neck and dimebucker in the bridge. both are on my ibanez GRG170DX
It'll be interesting though, to have a final version where the rhythm is double tracked by two guitarists with injured hands
It could be the chorus I guess... what do you guys think?
arr... not going to be able to record this tonight I think, going to be a bit busy.
Hey guys I've been real sick the past few days. I'm just not playing as well, bad cold. Tried recording it a couple times but I messed up so I think I should wait this out if I'm to record the main riff. Munta, hows your hand? If video 5 is going to be the chorus we'll need to record one last time. I'll put mine up first so you know what to play, but in a couple days I guess.
my hands a bit better now, i think ive got full functionality of my fingers back
it does still hurt a bit when changing chord positions though.
I really want to get this done now
those other bands are finishing theirs up and they sound cool. ours is gonna sound better though, cause were obviously superior
i have a question!
as i noticed, muntahunta goes for rythm guitar right?
do you want me to record lead guitar?
any news JVM?
Going to upload something tonight... making dinner right now but pretty soon after that.
Agh... guys, I'm really sorry. I played it for a test a few hours ago and I nailed it, very easily.. but now, I'm feeling sick again (must have been dinner as the cold is pretty much gone except for a few coughs and sniffles here and there)...
I just can't do it. I tried 5 or 6 takes and I'm not sure why but I can't, theres always a mistake here or there and I freeze up. I know this has got to be frustrating for you guys so I'd like you to finish. I can always add stuff later when I'm better but I don't want to keep you guys back, you probably wish this was finished a month ago
So, munta for your benefit even though I can't play it I'm uploading a kind of map letting you know which riffs go where.. the drop is going to be left empty for now and we can finish that tomorrow or next week or whenever, but here's where the riffs go (minus the intro, you already know that part.

At the first cue, play through videos 1-3, minus the very last tabbed part with the octave slides and D chord. Thats the verse. At the second cue, play video 5 twice except for the last part of it (I think you know what I mean). Chorus. At cue three do the same thing as cue one, verse again. After that I left blank, it should be pretty easy to see where the verse changes to the chorus again with the fill, then comes the drop/breakdown thing which we will cover later, and when thats done the chorus one final time. Hope I made sense. Sorry again.
weeeell... after posting on the forums ive found out that i may have tendonitis lol... fun times
anyways, i wont be playing guitar till i get it checked out so if you dont do it and i've had it checked out and everything is fine, i'll do it. otherwise i wont b doing any more guitar playing till its better, as a few people have said, its better to miss a few weeks/months than forever.
Yes thats true, take it easy. At least my hands arent in any danger (I don't think O_o). I may well be able to play it fine today or tomorrow, we'll see. I just feel sorry for audun, timono and HTR
oh man! looks like we're a bunch of sick ppl:) hahaha! think it was 7 days ago i said "i'll get you the vocals tomorrow" XD
I've bin pretty much busy with school lately, and this and whole next week im pretty busy with a drama project...
Hey guys I'm going to get this done for us by tomorrow night (not tonight though). Even if it turns out pretty sloppy it'll at least give you guys something to work off of.
I'm listening to a take I just did where everything was fine except I totally screwed up the chorus.. pretty funny... but give me about 15 minutes and I'll have something..
Yeah.. its pretty sloppy but I'll record it again in a few days much better when I'm not sick.

ok, ive been playing my acoustic for a few days without using my pinky and everything seems fine, im not going to use my pinky for a while longer so dont expect me to do anything too hard
i'm back and ready for action though
i thought it was already double tracked
im starting to think that maybe a cover would have been an easier song to start with although we have had quite a few health problems in this band
lol, turns out my tendonitis isnt better... was playing with my band yesterday and after 2 songs i had to call it a day... pitty really, we have a few gigs coming up and no more practices
dont know how im going to get through... maybe just not using my pinky lol
Well, for a some time ago i checked the newest upoad to the song, and discovered that the arrangement was slighty different that i thought. Which means, i've actually created a vocal line over something thats difenetly not the verse. I tried for long to make a decent vocal line over the real verse, and i've concluded; ITS STRAIGHTFORWARD IMPOSIBLE IF someone have a slightly little idea that might work as a vocal line at the verse, please help me I've got an ok chorus though...
Hey audun, i've been meaning to check with you on how you were doing.. let us know what kinda problems you're having etc. How is the verse different than you thought? Perhaps we can change it a little bit or help you with the lyrics? Post what ya got
havent got any lyrics yet, the problem is that the current verse riff isn't exactly what i would call suited as a verse riff.
What iv'e made a vocal line over, is the video nr. 4 in the Muse style lesson.
Ill see if i can record the arrangement i thought of soon, maybe tonight:)
Okay, well if we need anything changed thats doable
Whats up guys, I know Rated htr has moved on and wanted to know if you guys were planning to continue to work together. Hope so, some good talent in this band!
OOOPS! this band have bin dead for a while, and thinking about it, it may somehow had bin my fault
I would really really like to take part in a resurrection of this band:) what do any of you guys say?
Well, I just saw this thread and am still looking for a virtual band to join (see general thread).... if there is an open spot, and some willingness to continue I could join in to fill in a spot maybe?
nar, i think its mostly my fault this band hasnt been active, i am back on the net now though and even though I dont play guitar much anymore i'd still like to contribute.... even if its adding vocals, i can do that
ok people, it seems this band isn't going to get started again without a push, so how about i give it a push eh?
if people dont mind i'd really like to make this an active band so i am going to suggest a new cover song and if the people who are already in the band want to keep with it could they reply by the 9th of november please.
if not i take it upon myself to invite new members
the cover im suggesting to do is Creeping Death - Metallica
and i'd like to do vocals
so no one? damn
i guess i'll be looking for new members soon then
Hey man, sent JVM a pm yesterday regarding the VB's. Don't guess he's had a chance to forward it to you. I'll send to you now. Going to be some changes so stay tuned!!
this page of the thread is starting to look like my page lol.
looks like absolutly no-one wants to stay in the band... this is a sad day
