Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Ben's Land Of Legato by Ben Higgins

Legato is a technique I have avoided like the plague (mainly because I prefer to riff). Been trying for a while but can't seem to progress going too fast too soon I think so I've started from scratch again.

Hey llibach! In order to get your take to perfection, you should improve timing! So, work on the piece at a slower speed in order to get it flowing and tight. Keep on rocking man!

Hey Llion, for somebody who doesn't get on with legato you're certainly doing a good job ! smile.gif

The only thing that let it down for me was the timing was too awkward at its current status. Don't worry, I know how it is with legato.. it's difficult to control the tempo of your fingers. This just gets better though with time.

Your technique itself looks really good. Great finger positioning and everything. Apart from the timing keeping it from a higher mark, it's all great and I'd be really pleased with it if that was me cool.gif

Hey friend!! As my friends said, you only have to improve your timing to master this lesson. That's note a minor thing but with some concentration and hard work at slower tempos (you can use the metronome, the backing or the guitar pro file).

Good take! There was a few things you can work on! Your timing wasn't very accurate and sometimes you are rushing a little also when you are going from string to string it feels like you are loosing it a little bit
If you want to make legato perfect you need to play every single note with a metronome and do it very slow, it's your left hand that needs work and you need to master this move! The good thing is when you get it the rest will be piece of cake!

Oops, I missed this one smile.gif This is certainly a good effort, but I must say that in order to play these properly, you should spend some time doing in on slow tempos. There is little of use to play like that if you intent to get any faster with this technique. Timing is too off, and there are some big mistakes on one part. However, I think you can do it, you manage the positions well, just try to be patient enough to work on slower tempos.
