Who's your favorite and why? - would be the question I grew up listening to Mozart and Vivaldi, Beethoven and Bach, as my folks reallllyyyy wanted me to be aware of their creations from an early age (about 7-8 years of age) i didn't understand too much back then, but I didn't dislike it later on, when I was 24, I joined the Mozart Rocks! project and I found myself facing a totally different world!
What's your story regarding contact with classical music and composers?
Ahh,great topic !
Bach,Vivaldi, and Schubert, for sure .
I made contact with Classical Composers thanks to different things in different moments of my life...
1. Thanks to Walt Disney cartoons and also thanks to Tom & Jerry.
2. At first, thanks to Metal... and specifically thanks to becoming a Malmsteen's fan,, and then thanks to bands like Rhapsody and so... I started to investigate and listened to Paganini, Vivaldi, Bach, Beethoven, Mozart and all those awesome composers.
3. Thanks to my Sound and Recording career where I studied the history of music and analysed the structure and texture of many music styles.
4. I learnt many classical pieces at the Music Conservatory.
5. I become a Film Music fan and I started to study orchestration and counter point with an important teacher who made me analyze music by Bach and Schumman for example...
My favourite... I can't choose one...
Sometimes I wish I could have studied music in an awesome institution so I could have a more structured knowledge, but since in here there's no super music school, I'm glad I got this far on my own
Gabe, did you go at a national college or a private one? I am actually interested to know if your national school system is also oriented towards modern musical studies and has applied courses not only theoretical ones.
I like Vivaldi, Händel and Bach (not necessarily in that order) and a bunch of other composers from the same era.
Certainly some of Mozart's work, bits and pieces from Haydn, Beethoven. Schubert, I especially like his song cycles.
Not so much into more modern classical music. Yet.
Can't pick a single favorite.
H4H
Hmmmm, there's this guy called Ludovico Einaudi, composing a super combo of classical music sprinkled her and there with some modern stuff. i posted some of his stuff on GMC a few months ago but here are my favorites:
enjoy
I can't pick a favourite because I don't know enough from each composer but ones that have made the most impression on me would probably be:
Beethoven: Mondschein (Moonlight Sonata)
Schubert: Ellens Dritter Gesang (latter referred to as Ave Maria - not to be confused with Bach's Ave Maria.. basically it's the theme tune to the Hitman games)
Vivaldi: Four Seasons
Dont listen that much to classical but paganini back mozart are some of my favorits
Probably Olivier Messiaen.
