I would set the topic dedicated to guitar players who have marked a certain period, and then went into hiding, in one way or another ...

First on my list is Alvin Lee - the fastest hand of the Midwest! biggrin.gif

How about Tommy Shaw? Maybe he is more known for his singing but I think he is a great guitar player as well.

Tony Bourge, dominated with his riffs then disappeared

Jake E Lee. Yeah, we all think he disappeared too soon. Never forgotten though so slightly off topic.

Posting the video, really amusing when it came. And the song, you had to be there in the mid 80's - it was a nuke exploding right in your face smile.gif

One of my favorites.
Tommy Bolin - A shooting star from the '70s.
Lead guitarist for Zepher (a forgotton band from the '70s)
Played guitar for The James Gang and Deep Purple.
This was on his second solo album.
Shortly after this he died of a drug overdose.
Great talent, short life.

Yeah man, I completely forgot about Tommy Bolin, a phenomenal guitarist. My interest in fusion music started when I heard Billy's Cobham "Spectrum" album with Bolin on guitar !!

Maybe he just isn't well known, but I think the Jazz guitarist John Abercrombie deserves to be a part of this thread.

Steve Howe of Yes as well. I don't think people mention his name enough. He truly deserves to go down as one of the best in history. The song I have posted is titled, Starship Trooper. I think his best work happens to be Close to the Edge, The Gates of Delirium, and Sound Chaser.
