Hi Bogdan

I want to ugrade my bass rig, starting with an amp. I only play as a hobbyist for my own pleasure. I have been playing my bass thru my Toneport using the monitors and it is not very sastisfying. No real volume or punch for a bass instrument.

I would like your opinion on this Acoustic amp.

cheers

Hello Toroso,

sorry for delay in answering, I was playing a show. I'm glad to hear you are playing bass too. Yes, toneport can't really deliver a good bass tone, at least I couldn't find a good one.
Now regarding home amps...Generally for a cool bass sound you want a 100W amp with 15" speaker in it, or 2x10".

Now regarding that acoustic amp, it has everything it needs on paper. I have played one old acoustic head before and it was ok...A little old school sounding so I didn't like it as I couldn't dial a good slap tone. But Acoustic amps are famous and you should try it out. Only the price is a little "worrying" to me as its really cheap for a 100w amp.

One amp I can recommend that is good for home and "small rehearsal room" practice is :

Its a really good amp for the price. I played it many times. Its very smooth sounding and you can dial in the sweet slap sound. Really got that fender vibe sound and it sound pretty much the same as a fender head bass amp. I was really blown away with quality of the sound on this amp in comparison to warwick and other combos I heard.

One brand to browse is Nemessis too.

It would be the best to try that Acoustic amp in the store and see if you like the tone. Compare it to a mentioned Fender (if its in your price range) and see what you like better.

Hope this helps, tell me if you have any more questions...

Cheers Bogdan
