Hi Guys

I've been doing some takes on Gab's skate punk lesson and I've probably done 20 takes's and I did one that was I guess 85% ok and I've not done one better tonight. So I know it's not prefect do I post or not?
I guess I want to know what the instructors thoughts are? You guys never post anything half baked. How much effort do you guys have to put into nailing a lesson you put up? Do you do 10 takes to get it perfect?
And what sort of mindset should we have?
I must say also I've not recorded my self that much and have found it really helps hear what you sound like. It really stands out. : ohmy.gif biggrin.gif

Hey Zoom, if I were doing a video lesson then yes, I will do my best to get it 100%. I definitely think that it makes sense to give your best to something.. but if it's the process of submitting something for feedback, then I wouldn't worry about the fact that it's not perfect because it's the feedback itself that will help you (at least it should !) improve the aspects that are giving you trouble.

So, in short, don't worry too much and just go for it. Any feedback you receive should only benefit you smile.gif

I always like it when I receive different opinions from people regarding my work - it has only helped me evolve through the years, so I guess it's just easier to post away when you're sure you've given your absolute conscious best at something. There will be critics no doubt about it tongue.gif but if they help you become better, it can only be good biggrin.gif

As long as it takes. Sometimes I record, render a video, and don't like some small detail, so I record everything once again.. Different situations occur. It depends on the day really biggrin.gif

It depends on the complexity of the lesson! Sometime it was completed in one or two attempts, but if lesson are demanding, it takes a bit longer! Do not look back much about perfection - it's sometimes hard to concentrate when you know that you're shooting, as opposed to relaxed playing, without camera, when you don't think on eventually mistakes. biggrin.gif

I have not submitted that many vids to the REC but have probably done close to 100 takes on some of them before I posted it. Sometimes I do that many and never post any of it due to the fact that I just can't play some lessons at the required BPM. It still sounds good but it won't be accepted for grading.

Take the skate punk lesson for instance. I love it as well and I am working on it but I don't see how I will ever be able to play it and have it sound any good at all if I to do it at 180bpm like Gabriel does in the lesson. I have managed to work my way up to about 144bpm at the moment so maybe I'll get it but I doubt it.l. BTW it rocks even at 144bpm with the backing track slowed downl.

I record myself a lot at slower speeds on a lot of the lessons since like you said it helps you to hear what you need to work on.

I'm with Ben on this one. Just do 2-3 takes and post it. You'll benefit more from the feedback on your honest state of ability than on something that might not reflect your actual default ability.

I work hard to make the lessons sound perfect because I want to show the musical idea or exercises at its best. Regarding the rec program is ok that you post takes that aren't perfect. The idea is to give you some feedback about your playing to let you continue improving. Maybe a good feedback could prevent you of working something in a wrong way.

I normally practice the lessons well enough so when i get to the recording i shouldn't need more then 2-3 takes to get it right. If it takes more then that that means that i don't know the lesson good enough to record
