+1 England has always had strong social status differences. These are people with no job, no school, no forseeable better future. It started with a protest against police brutality (in england the police can be kinda brutal) after a familydad was shot dead by police (and police saying he shot (first), which later was found there are no proof of), and then escalated into people rioting for goods. They have nothing, and grabbing the few things that they can, is worth it for them. It is a very sad situation - not just the fact that there are hundreds of thugs robbing whatever they can get, but the fact that society created this group of people in the first place. You don't have to look further than the british political system to see that it's a very divided society. As some youth worker said in an interviewe about these riotsr, 'Children are not born as thugs, it's socialised in to them.' I'm old enough to have been around and living in Toxteth during the Toxteth riots some 30 years ago. I also remember Broadwater Farm, Handsworth, Bristol and other places in the UK rioting over 25 years ago. At the time much of the general rhetoric was the same and what was glossed over and largely ignored were the social inequalities in the UK. Little has changed since then, and arguably some things have gotten worse. In 1980 95% of the wealth in the the UK was in the hands of 15% of the population now it's 98% in the hands of 6%. England is at the bottom of the league table for social mobility - if you are born poor you are more likely to die poor then in any other developed nation. Health and life span is considerably worse for those who live in the inner cities and the inner city population is disproportionately non-white. The police are10 times more likely to stop you if you are non-white then if you are white in the same area and doing the same thing. If you are under 25 yrs old its 20 times. If you appear in court you are 20 times more likely to receive a custodial sentance for the same 1st offense as someone who is white. Non-white children are significantly more likely to grow up in a home where the male role model is either in prison or has a prison record. If you have a prison record you are significantly more likely to be unemployed. I could go on at length but I won't as this sort of inequity leaves a nasty taste in my mouth. What I will say is this - 35 years ago after Toxteth the UK government talked about the lessons to be learnt. It seems like we haven't learnt any. -------------------- Get your music professionally mastered by anl AES registered Mastering Engineer. It's a pity, the same happens here in South America... the social/economical differences are so strong and this only bring problems.. there are lots of Children that aren't going to school, and this will be something dangerous in the future... We had similar problems around 10 years ago... I hope that everything goes normal soon. -------------------- My lessons

Definitely bad thing for the people, I hope it will pass, and that they will come to sense. I'm not sure what is happening there, I'm not living there, so I won't pass any judgement.
