Long ago I heard that some guitarists hold the pick with one of the more rounded corners striking the strings. I adopted this style and was wondering if it's a bad habit I should work toward breaking. It just doesn't feel right when I pick with the pointed end, I got so used to the other way.

Any feedback will be graetly appreciated.

Just wanted to post a line of thanks to Kristofer for this web site. Especially for giving us something real to practice and not "Tom Dooley", "Twinkle, Twinkle..." or "The Drunken Sailor." That's what guitar teachers used back in the day. I was inspired to pick up a guitar in the '70's as a huge adolescent Kiss fan. How could a teacher expect me to stay interested teaching all that crap I just mentioned? I didn't stay all that interested because I thought awesome playing was beyond me.

I'm stickin' around here for a while 'cause I know it's not beyond me. After just a few days I can notice a huge difference in the way I approach my guitar and in how I play it.

Thanks again Kristofer!

Hello GMCers!

I'm 41 and haven't played in about 15 years. My fingers are weak and totally non-compliant, but what got me to sign on here is thath Kris' lessons have started turning that around and he teaches stuff that works!

I'm into Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Classical and Celtic music and play a Jackson DXMG Dinky (Super-Sweet, even for a low end model!). I have a Line 6 Spider II that stays on the Insane setting.

Just thought I'd say hi.
