When playing with heavy distortion, I find it difficult to get a clean sound without any unwanted noise. I try to use the my palm of my right hand to mute the upper strings and my fretting hand to mute the lower strings but i still cant play cleanly. Especially when playing a long run there is a lot of noise coming from fretting and unfretting the note i want to play and moving my hand around in general. what are some tips you guys have for cleaning up the sound when playing with distortion? Is this just something that comes naturally after playing for a while with distortion?
Maybe you have too much distortion? does your guitar make lots of noise even when you're not playing? like feedback etc?
could also be your technique might not be clean enough yet or you might have to adjust if you've only played clean tones before.
If it's none of those try using a noise supressor but it'll still make noise if your technique is lacking what it's needed. Lastly i'd suggest the sock aroudn the fretboard lol I only use those if i'm doing a lot of string skipping taps. Mostly try to play it slow clean without noise if that's possible to do then it's the technique that's slipping from the speed which just means to practice more!
hope it helps
