Hey GMCers! Welcome to my first collaboration! I recorded a backing track in D minor with a modern rock sound but using a chord progression that sounds like Gun’s and Roses. I want to see all those Slash and Zakk Wylde fans rocking over this one!!
This is the chord progression of the song: Dm – F – G – C. You can use D minor Aeolian and D pentatonic minor over this progression but when the backing plays G you’ll have to use D dorian mode.
The structure is simple: Intro – Verse – Chorus – Verse – Chorus – Chorus.
The song is short so we‘ll have not more than 7 players for this one. I would like to receive lots of nice melodies (mainly in the chorus) but also angry pentatonic licks. (check my Zakk Wylde's style lesson and also my rocker lessons).
Let me know who is in.
Enjoy it!!

Finally we have 8 participants. Here we have the players and the part of each one:
Intro: The Uncreator
Verse: (two players) Smells & Zephyr
Chorus: (one player) FretDancer69
Verse: (two players) Slammer & preownedguitar
Chorus: (one player) Gilmore
Chorus: (one player) Tjchep
You can do the uploads in this link: http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=10452
I forgot to say that the tempo is 105 bpm.
Since I'm already doing Bogdan's collaboration I will skip out on this but but great track Gabe
SWEET.
I'm tottally in
We dont get to solo over the WHOLE song do we!! Hah, I know we wont, but how many bars do we get?
I'm In!!
Great Tjchep and Fretdancer!! let's begin the improvisations! Remember that the pentatonic scale will sound good all the time over this progression. But if you use dorian mode over the G maj chord it will sound more interesting.
Any other player?
Hmm... why not! I guess I'll join. I'll try to get one as soon as I can!
Hey, I'm in for sure!
I`ll give this one a go too if I may, lots on at the moment, but can always slip in a collab
Not gonna get in this one, time to give other people the chance! but it's a great backing track, maybe I'll record something over it just for fun good luck guys!
Oh man if I wasn't drowning in work I would definitely like to be a part of this one!
I like to give it a go. I have plenty of time the next few weeks.
Great guys!! These are the participants at the moment.

Hi gabriel,
Do we record a solo over the whole piece? or just pick a chorus or verse?
what do you think if each on of you choose the part that would like to play the lead guitar?
we can divide it like that:
Intro
Verse (two players)
Chorus (one player)
Verse (two players)
Chorus (one player)
Chorus (one player)
Everybody could also record some arrangements and short melodies in the whole song and then I could choose the parts that fits better with the lead guitar. In the last chorus it would be great if we have some other guitars playing speed licks.
(However you could post a whole song solo in the uploads only topic if you want. but please let me know in this tread wich is the part that you choose to play the lead guitar)
so please choose your part...
and make me know who would like to be the seventh player.
Ill do the last chorus I guess. Ill do some speed licks and tie it up with a nice melody.
I`ll go for a verse, I need to start being a little more melodic, so this will help
I'd like to participate if there is still space
Id like to take the 1st or 2nd chorus if thats ok!
Hi
I would like to do the 3d chorus please. Should it contain anything in particular, like fast licks or slower ones?
Hey Gabriel if there is any room id like to jump in on this one, Ill take any part i can get
Well, we have all the players!! I said that we need 7 players but I'll do an exception because The Uncreator signed a bit after the last one. I think that you could do a nice intro solo for the song in the intro part that sound like the chorus).
These are the players and the parts for each one:
Intro: The Uncreator
Verse: (two players) Smells & Zephyr
Chorus: (one player) FretDancer69
Verse: (two players) Slammer & preownedguitar
Chorus: (one player) Gilmore
Chorus: (one player) Tjchep
As I said.. it would be great if you post solos for the whole song. I could use some melodies and like as arranges.
If you record a melody and you would like to harmonize it post another file with the second guitar.
I would also like anyone of you to record acoustic guitar recorded in the chorus playing the same rhythm than the electric guitar. Who would like to record it?
I'm sorry I'm a little confused
Should we play over the whole song and post it.
or should we just record over the part that we need to play and post it.
If someone could clear that up for me I'd Appreciate it
Ah, sorry, I've been gone for the part choosing, but I'm fine with the verse! I'll try to get something done as soon as possible!
Gabriel - You mentioned, "You can use D minor Aeolian and D pentatonic minor over this progression but when the backing plays G you’ll have to use D dorian mode."
Why do you have to use D dorian? I did some jamming with this and you're right - it DOES sound way better when using D dorian over the G chord. Why is this so? In the past I would just muddle through the minor pent. over the G, but GMC has opened new worlds for me. Can't figure out why switching to D dorian over the G makes it sound so much better. Is this a question for Andrew?
Love your lessons, btw.

Exactly Andrew! Thank you.
FretDancer69: You can use the complete backing and post it complete with your solo in the part that belongs to you. It will be easier for me to synchronize the files.
Thanks Andrew! I understand it now! I've been diving into theory lately and this simple explanation has turned into a big step forward for me. It's so much easier to understand theory when you put it to use like this. I'm diving in for more now.
