Germany is the land of metal - with bands like Blind Guardian, Rammstein etc, there's no doubt about it!
Here is a somewhat feeble attempt of mine to write a song in German - I hope all German speaking gmc'ers will listen to this one with their sense of humour turned ON! In gray you will find my wishful English translation
http://itunes.apple.com/album/mittwoch-single/id408916876
Montag, bin Ich so müde (Monday, I am so tired)
Montag, töte Ich ein Fliege (Monday, I killed a fly)
Dienstag, habe Ich das Haus gereinigt (Tuesday, I cleaned the house)
Dienstag...Ich gehe weiter (Tuesday...I move on)
Donnerstag, hörst du nicht das Donner? (Thursday, can't you hear the thunder?)
Donnerstag, Ich bin das Donner! (Thursday, I am the thunder!)
Freitag, ist nur einem Tag...nur einem Tag bleiben...einem Tag...
(Friday, is just a day...only one day left...one day)
Mittwoch! Habe Ich vergesst (Wednesday! I forgot about it)
Mittwoch! Mein Deutsch ist schlecht (Wednesday! My German is bad)
Mittwoch! Ist nicht die beste (Wednesday! Is not the best)
Sch****...habe Ich vergessen (S*** I forgot about it)
Samstag, heute bin Ich nicht so müde (Saturday, today I am not so tired)
Samstag, den ganzen Tag ist ein Fest! (Saturday, the whole day is a party!)
Sonntag..jetzt weise Ich! (Sunday...now I know!)
Ich habe eine Tag vergessen (I forgot about one day)
Mittwoch! Habe Ich vergesst (Wednesday! I forgot about it)
Mittwoch! Mein Deutsch ist schlecht (Wednesday! My German is bad)
Mittwoch! Ist nicht die beste (Wednesday! Is not the best)
Sch****...habe Ich vergessen (S*** I forgot about it)
SOLO
Montag, Dienstag, Donnerstag, Freitag, Samstag, Sonntag (Monday, Tuseday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
Aber es ist nicht korrekt! (But that is not correct!)
Nein... Ich habe eine Tag vergessen...jaa (No...I forgot about one day...yeah)
Du weist welche Tag (You know what day)
Ich weise welche Tag ( I know what day)
Ihr...jaa! (They...yeah!)
Mittwoch! Habe Ich vergesst (Wednesday! I forgot about it)
Mittwoch! Mein Deutsch ist schlecht (Wednesday! My German is bad)
Mittwoch! Ist nicht die beste (Wednesday! Is not the best)

Thanks a lot for listening!

I must say Rammstein have really been my metal heroes the last year. I guess I should look out so I don't get
too much influenced by them! Who knows I might end up learning German grammar...!
(even though it's going to take a while of course)

That's a lot of fun Kris
Posted by: utak3r Jan 24 2009, 10:35 PM
Yeah, it really has this "tanz metal" touch
My thought:
While at PMed riffs it sounds really cool, those not muted riffs could have somewhat deeper sound, heavier, now it's... hm, can't find a proper english word.... too screamy?
Other than that I like this one
Posted by: edguy Jan 24 2009, 10:41 PM
Haha Kris ich kann gar nicht aufhören zu lachen
Was für ein geiler Song und dein Deutsch ist gar nicht so schlecht
English Version: Kris I can't stop laughing. What a great song and your german is not bad at all.
You should form a German Metal Band.

ah you mean the chorus riff? Yes you are right I could try adding some muting there for a more staccato feel. Maybe something to think about for the live version!
Thanks for the comment!

Oh so "Donner" was a correct word at least - I am happy about that!!

Polish is very difficult to speak, especially that rolled "r".

I know
I have many English native speakers firends an I know that for them Polish is just a bunch of letters
"r" is only one of the problems... big groups of consonants are, too
"chrząszcz brzmi w trzcinie, w Szczebrzeszynie"

Or even "Szczecin" is a challenge for a lot of people.

Wow Gabriel awesome to hear this from you!! Thanks!
It would be absolute killer to hear your take on the master! ( I don't have any top-of-the-line maximiser + I couldn't really make use of a multiband compressor on this master... Still I feel that in the right hands, these two things might make the master better)

The high pitched screams... how do you do that?!
Thanks!
I think that I have learned to do these screams by singing in falsetto (normal soft falsetto) - I always used to do that when there was a song on the radio with a female singer, as that was the only way to nail the high notes.
Much later when I realised that I wanted to try to develop a vocal technique for rock/metal - I used the same falsetto "technique" with lots of guts/stomach/diaphragm (basically scream like you are dying but without hurting your throat).

Thanks David!
I used EZ drummer with the standard drums that come with it, I used its' multichannel function to fatten things up with eq, compression and a little reverb.
That wasn't enough though - so I triggered/dubbed the snare and kick drum with some really fat samples. I then moved these samples so that they come sliiightly after the EZ drummer hit - that way I got a fatter sound + I preserved humanize function of ez drummer.

Exactly! That is the reason I decided to try and do it in German, there is no way you could get that from English - without inventing a pronunciation system of your own (hey what a cool idea by the way!
)

I used Izotope Ozone 3 for this one. It has many great tools. Bassically I used the Eq (I incressed the bass frequencies to make it sound fatter), I compressed the whole mix and also the bass frequencies range with the multiband compressor (just a bit), then I excited the higher frequencies in the harmonic exciter section. And maybe some other little things that I don't remember know.

The only thing which might have stood out stronger on the mp3 is the stereo image (I used a free tool called http://www.fluxhome.com/products/Freewares/stereotool.html). Not completely sure though - I am learning a lot from this!
