Just because it sounds like dream theater doesnt make it a ripoff.

Very true and i wasn't trying to say he's ripping off any bands guitarist or anything but for me it just doesn't sound anything new so i couldn't really call him great if he reminds me too much of other players. Now i wouldn't mind so much if i thought he sounded really good however i don't really like his style. I've been trying to find something fresh and new for a while for hopefully some new inspiration but so far i haven't found it and he's not it.

You can take inspiration from bands and stuff and why hide it? If he's inspired by Dream Theater it's going to be hard to hide it anyway but i don't think people should so i don't mind that really. But Dream Theater i must say weren't on my mind when i was listening to him anyway

I see where he is coming from, because if you listen to something like the last minute or so of Decade of Statues, if that is Dream Theater ripoff, I don't know what is, but he is still original in many aspects, mainly the harmonized soloing and dropped tunings without going all the way to a 7-string.

And Dream Theater rip off Watchtower. It is an endless cycle. Everybody is in theory ripping somebody off. Between The Buried and Me so their thing and do it well. They are a great band with great songs. Dream Theater may have inspired BTBAM. Watchtower inspired Dream Theater as Portnoy admitted. Dream Theater is just a mix of Rush, Watchtower and other prog bands.

I like BTBAM, Dream Theater, Rush, Watchtower etc but just because one band came first doesn't mean I treat them any different.

The rip off should be replaced with inspired. If it's a rip off then it is a total copy which it clearly isn't.

In my opinion the best new guitarist even though he isn;t new anymore is Matt Bellamy. He truly is unique.

My bad, I didn't mean to make it sound like that, but anyway, I need to take back the first post again because I have listened to the entire album now, and I will have to say, it is really awesome. What threw me off at first was Decade of Statues, because I go back and listen to it now, and still think every other song on the album is 100x better.

I don't know if the lead screamer guy does the clean vocals or not, but the clean vocals are really good, and I would like to see them showcased more.

I have been a Muse fan for a while now, and I enjoy Matt Belamy's SONGWRITING, but I still don't understand the hype behind his guitar-playing skills, if you look at a lot of his songs, the entire things are just 1-string riffs, or power/octave chords played at either 8th notes or 16th notes with maybe some phaser/flanger/wah or other effect added over them, I fail to see his originality, no offense. I think he is a way better and much more original singer than he is guitarist.

He is an incredible singer and organ player. He is a pretty damn good guitarist I also think. All his riffs are awesome and he is pretty unique I still think with what he does even if it is simple.

And concerning Decade Of Statues, well I quite like that song, I love every one on the album, But there is that song an album that just doesnt quite click with the rest sometimes, the overall album though, Im glad you like smile.gif

Yea, Ants Of The Sky was a really cool one, and I thought Dream Theater was random lol, when I heard the blues solo, then some other weird stuff, and then the western-style part, and then more screams, I was seriously like WTF is this, but in a good way.
