I've created a preset for OVERLOUD TH1 that is focused on "Djentish" tone and creating clarity on the low/detuned strings while keeping its crunch. I"ve stacked two instances of my typical "gain stack" pedal sequence and used two cabinets and four mics. It's a bit of a long chain, but works well.
Here is a sample (no preamps/pre compressors used, just software) GMCLesson116_Djent.mp3 ( 386.65K ) Number of downloads: 165 You could of course, create something similar with a real guitar/amp/pedals. Take a look at the screen grab and it will give you an idea of the signal chain. In the patch, I"ve dialed the Noise Gates back from where I had them in the screen grab so you can dial in as much or little Gate as you need. 116TH1_Djent.xml.zip ( 3.92K ) Number of downloads: 91 Enjoy! What is the theory behind two noise gates to the signal path? How does that work and where are they positioned normally?

Todd, What's that programme you're using for those Stompbox simulations? It's called OVERLOUD TH1. It's pretty darn Spiff IMHO! You can download a DEMO for FREE! http://overloud.com/download/request_th1triode_demo.php Pretty brutal .2 cabinets in series? Definitely going in my library! Thanks Two Cabs seems to enhance bass response, reduce fizziness, and give more "Speaker Character" making it sound a bit less emulated. Enjoy! Todd |

What is the theory behind two noise gates to the signal path? How does that work and where are they positioned normally? Helps with the staccato style in the synchopation. |
