Hey my friend.

Thanks a lot on your comments on all my rec takes and on my collab takes.

I really want to explore a little mor about your advice on my tone. I have always play SSS Strats, and I'm trying to really hear in my tone what your trying to explain to me.

I do sometimes feel that my tone lacks "body" , or that it can be more rounded. You know that I like a crunch tone for my rhythm guitars, and a more rounded tone for my solos. But In my original compositions I'm looking for that rounded rhythm guitar sound and maybe I won't get with my SSS start.

So I have to choices to change the bridge and neck pickups to a couple of Seymour Duncans humbuckers, or to change my guitar. I really don't get attached to my guitars so I can sell my start and buy a new one, or I can buy a cheap one. One guitar that i tried a couple of days ago is the Yamaha Pacifica, it has a hum bucker on the bridge and it has a really nice tone, that could pe a good choice.

So what do you think my friend, help me find the guitar or the mic that suits my tone.

Thanks again.

I think there is no need to replace the guitar if You feel comfortable with that one. My humbucker suggestion was related to the tone family You usually try to set up. Single Coil in bridge position is very harsh. But...before trying to change anything let's start from the very basics. Try to place the amp at Your ears height and stand close to it. Try to setup the tone You like but from the amp directed" in face"...because this is what Your mic get's and this is what You offer to Your listeners.

Most common issue is setting up the tone while the amp is on the floor and You are sitting or standing...there is a huge differency between the tone You hear and the tone Your record. Start from very simple things and show us Your results.

Hi Andres.. the Strat is a very versatile guitar and many famous players and session musicians always have it as their main axe because it can do so much. A Strat should be able to deliver a natural, woody and warm tone no problem. I'm not exactly sure what kind of sound you want to achieve though.. a 'full' tone could be anything.

I have a feeling that you need to experiment with your amp's tone and gain settings. When I listen to your REC's I sometimes feel the tone is too harsh for the lesson you're learning.. like the gain is too synthetic, not natural enough. I see that Darius has the same thoughts about experimenting with your amp. I do think that the Strat should deliver.. you just need to look at the gear you're putting it through. smile.gif

If you have a good strat, all you need is a good amp, try choosing your usual rhythm channel, ETC add some mids and then start to build your "different" tone from there.

Obviously, for a warm tone, don't use the bridge pickup...

Keep us posted!

Thanks a lot for your recommendations guys, and I'm really glad that Ben Miguel also jumped in.

So what I see is that the issue is not the guitar but the amp and effects. I didn't mentioned it but I don't use an amp, I always use the Line 6 gearbox software. So maybe I should get a nice amp and a couple of nice pedals.

What do you think?

I'm not familiar with a Line 6 Gearbox.. I know that the POD has great tones on it. But using digital software can often produce unsatisfying results.

Do you play live ? If so, then a small combo amp might be the answer. If you're just interesting in composing / recording.. maybe look at something like Guitar Rig ?

Well my intention for next year is to play live, since I have already my original work almost done. So a nice combo would be a very nice idea. I have guitar rig but I have never use it to record , I'll try it.

You can get a nice tone with the software too. It only needs some adjustment. Very often I can here You using too much gain. Maybe start from this point?
