Welcome
I'm no expert like our instructors, but if it's scales you wish to learn I suggest you start with pentatonic and aeolian. They can both be used for minor/major keys with the same shapes, and appear in 90% (or more) of the songs, specially in rock/metal/blues etc. -------------------- Guitars:

Hey Taylor! Welcome aboard!
If you didn't do scale practice, perhaps you can do it systematically with this lesson? We are here to help you, and there are pentatonic and other scale courses/lessons. Let us know what you need. For starters, it would be good to learn pentatonic scale, and them move to diatonic (the one showed in the lesson). -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

Hey Taylor! Welcome to GMC! The guys are right! Once you get to play what you like, the 'work' part of practicing will disappear
Now, if you'd like, check out the bottom of the homepage where the video chat schedule is each of my fellow instructors and myself are hosting sessions almost daily and you can ask us anything you'd like to know live! Be it scales or scheduling your practice routine based on your preferences, both musical and technical Mine is happening each Thursday at 8 PM London time (except next week, when it's going to be on Saturday at 6 PM London time) Otherwise, I'm also running a licks workshop - the 'thing' if you wanna learn a quick new lick each week - featuring all sorts of styles and levels of difficulty! Check it out: Cosmin's Licks Workshop Cheerios and don't shy away from asking anything! |
