can anyone recommend the book/dvd Fretboard Roadmaps??

I've never tried using that book before, but you may want to consider this DVD by Doug Doppler. It is probably the best fretboard theory DVD I've seen so far, I can't imagine needing another one after studying this one. Doug demonstrates in this video some ways Joe Satriani taught him fretboard theory.

I have the DVD, played it a long time ago I can only rember that he was explaing the CAGED chord formula.

There is a booket with the dvd and this is the content
notes on the A and E string
barred E and A chords
1-4-5 chord families around the 1- 3th fret 5 th and 7th fret 10th 12 fret
Power chords
1 and 3 th string union licks
turnarounds
chord: sus, 6,7, add9 and slides
Sloop John B Good song
F-D-A movable chords
see see rider song
Rock riff in E
Blues Box 1
sliding box I over box II, III and IV
Stagolee song
Double note licks
Stagolee part 2 song
G major scal starting from D string on 2 positions
Soul ballad in Gmaj
