Since most of my colleagues have asked similar question now it's my turn. smile.gif

I would like to know your opinion on my lessons:
Are they too hard/too easy?
Well explained/bad explained?
What do you think about topics I've been covering so far?
Would you like some specific topic to be covered more?
Do you like features on my lessons?
What would YOU add or remove?
Some new ideas maybe?

Looking forward to hear your wise words in purpose
of improving quality of GMC,just like always!! smile.gif

Hey Muris,

I just will answer the questions for my case.

Are they too hard/too easy ?
- Well, for me most of your lessons are too hard, but in general (at leats that's what I think) the lessos are inbeteween intermediate and advanced, so more beginner stuff would be nice tongue.gif

Well explained/bad explained ?
- Good question. I think some more explanation in every short video would be good, but the things that you explain is good and easy to understand smile.gif
If you do that explanation by talking (I would prefer this tongue.gif) or if you write it, thats your choice. I really can imagine that it's hard to explain in english, but Juan Valero also mastered it smile.gif

What do you think about topics I've been covering so far ?
- Excellent. You cover very much different styles, keep it like it is smile.gif

Would you like some specific topic to be covered more ?
- Spontaneous, I cant think of a specific topic smile.gif

Do you like features on my lessons ?
- How do I have to understand that question ?

What would YOU add or remove ?
- I just would add some more explanations

Some new ideas maybe?
- Not yet, but if something comes to my mind, I will post them smile.gif

Thanks for input guys, well appreciated!! smile.gif

Chast,with "features" I meant of GP file,scale sheets,text on screen,written explanation etc,
which is related question to "What would you add or remove?".

Ah ok smile.gif
Hm, nothing to complain about, except that the explanation could be a bit more wink.gif (I think I already said that before tongue.gif)
On screen text is cool, GP file is usefull aswell, scale sheets are also useful, in my opinion nothing should be changed there smile.gif

Got it all,thanks! smile.gif

Actually I have specific problems to record voice for lessons
BUT we have an idea to overcome this, stay tuned. wink.gif

Posted by: mattacuk Feb 11 2008, 09:38 PM

Ok my turn wink.gif

Are they too hard/too easy?
Many of them are very challenging yes, BUT this is what I like about them. I like the challenge, and after many months of hard work I notice big improvments in my tecnique. I belive doing advanced stuff really is the best way to advance your abilitys! smile.gif There are plenty of awsome beginner to indermediate lessons here already, so I look to these lessons for a challenge.
Well explained/bad explained?
The video sections are easy to follow, no probs here.
What do you think about topics I've been covering so far?
Wide and varied, always touching on things im interested in developing ! smile.gif
Would you like some specific topic to be covered more?
I would like to see more 3-nps lick exercises, GMC has plenty of pentatonic style lessons, but actually very few 3nps chops. I would really like to be able to improvise 3nps style just as easily as I can useing the pentatonic scale. So more on improvisation please biggrin.gif
Do you like features on my lessons?
Sure wink.gif
What would YOU add or remove?
nothing smile.gif
Some new ideas maybe?
I think you should wear some Bono style glasses !! wink.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

I'm wearing Bono glasses ALL the time but just can't see my face in lessons!!! laugh.gif laugh.gif

3nps runs/improvisation coming up,thanks for info Matt! smile.gif

Hey Muris, your lessons are challenging, but that's good because it gives us a goal that we want to acheive (the main video) as for a suggestion, maybe some more neoclassicalness smile.gif

I would like some more explanations on your lessons too Muris. I think that your lessons are the best and most difficult here, and you have a great theory knowledge - why not use it more to make your lessons even better. We will all benefit. Thanks smile.gif

Posted by: blindwillie Feb 12 2008, 01:42 PM

Personally:
Are they too hard/too easy?
Most of your lessons are a bit to hard for me. I consider myself on beginner level.

Well explained/bad explained?
Well explained. I wouldn't mind comments (maybe in-video?) like "A common beginner mistake with this is..." and "In this part you have to pay attention to your left hand muting, I usually do it like this" or "Don't solder with your feet" for example. Anything you think of that can help me grasp new stuff, avoid doing it wrong and cut off time to reach the "Aaah that's it" point. Like in a live conversation.

What do you think about topics I've been covering so far?
You made some beatiful lessons. Some aren't in my style but I know other people like it.

Would you like some specific topic to be covered more?
Yes. OFC. Anything covering any style of BLUES! AND SLIDE! biggrin.gif

Do you like features on my lessons?
Generally your lessons are very well thought.

What would YOU add or remove?
Some new ideas maybe?
See my comment on "Well explained?"

Are they too hard/too easy?
Not a critisism but sometimes on the exercise lessons you do, a slightly easier pattern would maybe help and appeal to a wider number of members from beginner to advanced, for example the speed burst lesson is without doubt awesomeness but quite a tricky pattern to play from the very first shape, personally I find it great, as Matt said a real challenge, but just thinking that some may get put off actually sitting down and getting the "concept" of "speed bursts" because the lick is too tricky for them.
Well explained/bad explained?
No problems here, its one of the first things I look at "what techniques etc are in the lesson"
What do you think about topics I've been covering so far?
your covering everything excellently so far smile.gif
Would you like some specific topic to be covered more?
Personally I `d like some more straight forward heavy rock lesson/licks from you, the Gilbert style lessons are killing me but I`m getting so much out of them, more more more biggrin.gif Pavel and Gabriel cover this topic really well but it doesnt hurt to have different approaches.
Do you like features on my lessons?
I like the introduction of the chords on the screen but personally I wouldnt want to see anything else on the screen, distracts from watching the playing.
What would YOU add or remove?
nothing, fine as they are imo
Some new ideas maybe?
Giving a couple of lessons on the solo`s off of your album would be awesome!

Having said all that, I love the lessons the way they are mate, they all inspire and push me to go that extra mile and for me after 4-5 months into GMC I`m seeing some payback in my playing, so it cant be bad at all! smile.gif

Posted by: DeepRoots Feb 12 2008, 02:38 PM

Are they too hard/too easy?
A bit too hard- but thats what is driving me to be a better player. You have some unique and tricky patterns that you play and i really enjoy (trying to) learn them.

Well explained/bad explained?
Id love to see more explanations of scale use-why are you using this scale for this particular style? What are the intervals that you try to lean on in each scale- and if theres more than one scale- why do they work well together? why use them both in this style of music? etc. Id like to know the relationship between the scales you use in each lesson- also when modulations or scale changes occur, and which notes you like to "aim" for in each scale, which are good to hold on and which are better as passing notes.

What do you think about topics I've been covering so far?
Awesome! You cover soo much!

Would you like some specific topic to be covered more?
Im prety good with the modes of the major scale - but id also like to learn the other 2 sets of modes- how and when to apply them etc...also i saw you mention harmonic major before- id love to learn as many crazy new scales/modes as i can! (all i know at the moment is 7 modes of major and just the harmonic minor scale also)

Do you like features on my lessons?
The on screen chords are great- and i actually like how you show what the note durations are also. GP file is handy as always. Id love a few explanation videos though- especially for those upcoming crazy scales wink.gif

What would YOU add or remove?
hmm, nothing apart from what ialready mentioned wink.gif

Some new ideas maybe?
+1 with smells- id love some full song lessons from let it out- my favourites are Mojo Oro, Gas at once and An old modern time- so a couple of lessons on those would make my day smile.gif

Also like i said up there- id love to know ALL the scales that YOU know smile.gif (the crazier the better) wink.gif

Well thats me done- i love your lessons as they are but any of this ^ would just rock my socks off.

Cheers Muris

Many thanks for feedbacks guys, that is a great guide for my next lessons!! smile.gif

So basicly we need more explanation and some topics/styles to be covered more,
PLUS bit easier stuff to play, you got it. wink.gif

Posted by: jeff Feb 12 2008, 03:00 PM

ohmy.gif ! Muris, your lessons are perfect! Just keep up what you are doing. Sure they are a challenge, but also an inspiration. You have plenty of intermediate to advanced lessons that cover everything.
To be truthful, I usually just take a riff or two from your lessons and try to apply them to something else that I am doing. And the fact that they are original lessons from you and not a cover from someone else makes it all the better.
You have the tab, backing track, slow and fast video, everything that I need.
This just my opinion of course, but I think they are great and have no complaints. I see no need to change anything. smile.gif

Posted by: Crazyfret Feb 12 2008, 03:15 PM

Are they too hard/too easy?

I think you have a good balance atm on pitching your lessons to people of various abilities. I know it takes a lot of work to do a beginer / intermediate / advanced lessons but it provides a good indicator of the players ability. I know you throw in a tricky passage here and there and they do take time to learn but thats how progress is made.

Well explained/bad explained?

Generally ok. Though I would perhaps like a bit more of a description when its ok to play outside a scale. My theory is not great I suppose, the last beginers fusion lesson looks like you are explaning this to us smile.gif

What do you think about topics I've been covering so far?

Excellent no complaints there.

Would you like some specific topic to be covered more?

mmm tough one...there is so much I need to know

Do you like features on my lessons?

I like the post poduction where the chord changes are shown.

What would YOU add or remove?

A downloadable version of the backing, I know there is an issue of copyright but it would be nice smile.gif

Some new ideas maybe?

Maybe an acoustic lesson? Finger picking style?

I think thats all I need to say other than to all the instructors that they maintain the high standards they have set themselves. Its a teriffic site this smile.gif

Are they too hard/too easy?
I would love to say one day that your lessons are too easy smile.gif. I think everybody will find something suitable. I'm often not able to play some parts right now because there are to advanced, but it forces me to do an exercise out of this and in the meantime improvise/create something easier for this part ... which is a good concept i think.

Well explained/bad explained?
Well explained in general!! There are always questions coming up at some point, but you are always available in the forum to give answers.
Maybe it could be good to prepare a related topic in the forum for each lesson, so that all questions and answers are combined in one thread. Perfect would be, if the link to these threads are integrated on the first page of each lesson as well.
(like DeepRoots mentioned ... it's something i would be interested in as well.)

What do you think about topics I've been covering so far?
Just great and a wide range to choose from!! The most i like is that all lessons have great backing tracks. Whatever topic the lesson is about i have the feeling i do music and beside working on skills i can hear the scales, arpeggios or chords in a musical context.

Would you like some specific topic to be covered more?
There are already more topics as i can handle, but i really like your latest Fusion Jam lessons. For my taste you could continue with that series. I find it really difficult to enter to the fusion world as the theory behind is of course more complex, but with your feel of melody i slowly see some open doors in front of me ... far away, but there is a light smile.gif

Do you like features on my lessons?
Yes, completes perfectly each lesson.

What would YOU add or remove?
Just recently by working on your Fusion Jam lessons i was dreaming about a slower version .. backing track and guitar together. Maybe just a sound file. This would be an helpful guide sometimes.

Some new ideas maybe?
Sorry, no new ideas, i'm just happy like that.

I find the 40bpm Backing tracks extremely helpful. Or at least backing tracks that are approx. slowed to half of the performed lesson. That way as we are trying to learn the new materials...we can also simulate and get used to hearing the chord changes as we find our way. We really appreciate your hard work and willingness to share your experience with those of us wanting to play great as you do.

I just want to say that in general, Muris, you have been an inspiration to me! I am happy to see all of your lessons. Some are too advanced for me, and I will put them to one side until I improve, but other lessons push me to be a cleaner more accomplished player, your various styles inspire me to play wider styles. Musris, you are a guitarists guitarist!

Many great suggestions here,I'll have it all on my mind when making new lessons.!!

Posted by: Tjchep Feb 16 2008, 01:54 PM

Are they too hard/too easy?
Well, I'm a begginner, and I'm not going to get any better at a technical standpoint just learning begginer lessons, So I think they are perfect and like Smells said, the speed burst pattern is hard at first, but once you get it down its easy to throw it down on any set of strings. And its easy to put into improv's.
Well explained/bad explained?
Very well explained, never feel you leave out anything I could use.
What do you think about topics I've been covering so far?
Very cool, but you never have riffing or rhythm lessons, your mainly based on soloing. Mabye you could even do a rhythm one for each lesson like you have before then the lead. It helps boatloads seeing how you fit those notes in that chord in that amount of time and just how the track was composed more or less.
Would you like some specific topic to be covered more? Probably riffing. Metal stuff, more acoustic stuff. And mabye in the style of steve lukather 2?
Do you like features on my lessons?
Yep
What would YOU add or remove?

Nothing.
Some new ideas maybe?
Mentioned up there ^.

Glad you like it,thanks!! smile.gif

I thought I explained it in text in slow videos
but if you have any additional questions please feel free to ask,
maybe in theory sub-board?

Posted by: leedbreak Feb 18 2008, 07:16 PM

Are they too hard/too easy?
It is the perfect mix, so just keep the same mix. Beginner lesson are always good, as many new / potential members may never have the nerve to ask.

Well explained/bad explained?
I would always like more talking, but that just me. The talking just makes it seem more personal.

What do you think about topics I've been covering so far?
Perfect, why I joined GMC. AP 1, etude and pent sub marked a few areas I needed help when I joined. I am a very happy customer.

Would you like some specific topic to be covered more? .
I would like to see more info on picking attacks. I myself have improved greatly in the last month due to me concentrating only on my picking. Not to build speed but to build accuracy while staying relaxed. My problem was partially due to not playing relaxed at slow speeds. So as I went to a faster tempo where being relaxed is more important, I fell apart.

Do you like features on my lessons? I love it all! The chords are very nice in understanding why it sounds like it does. I love how there is usually something in the backing going at the speed for with we are to pick. Love that man.

What would YOU add or remove? Nothing should be removed, but there should be a slower backing for Pent sub lesson. I know it is an older lesson but I still hit it a couple times. I can practice lessons for hours on end, once I get to where I can play with one of the backings but It is a tad boring to only be able to use a metronome. The more backing tracks the better. On some lesson on GMC the backings are still too fast. IMO

I would love a lesson like AP 1 but where I can play with you at a slower speeds. There is nothing more educational, for me, than to play along with your instructor. Every missed note stands out so much more. I feel that playing with someone in tandem helps capture the original feel to the song or riffs more. Helps more with the timing and correct bends/vib

Some new ideas maybe? MORE AP. wink.gif More lessons about acceleration and maybe, deceleration.

AP 1 is still by far my favorite but the etude has taught me more than any lesson so far. It is truly about picking attack. I feed off lessons like that.

Thanks Muris. You can never leave GMC
smile.gif

Many thanks, more talking coming right up!! smile.gif

Posted by: Muris Feb 21 2008, 10:03 AM

Seems like we've managed to solve the issue called "more talking". wink.gif

Posted by: eddiecat Feb 21 2008, 10:31 AM

Yeah!
And it's fantastic!

I think that your lessons are awsome,
and so well constructed and thought
that if someone really wants to "study" them
he/she can always learn something
that goes beyond mere playing and imitating.
But an idea came to my mind practicing your Mixolydian Riffing lesson:
maybe you could do the same thing for the other modes as well?
Like: Dorian Riffing lesson with Dorian Solo (beginner-intermediate-advanced)
Phrygian Riffing lesson with Phrygian Solo lesson (beg.-int.-adv.) and so on...
All of them in A like your Mixo lesson.
I think it would really be cool and very helpful...
Oh, yes! Don't you dare leave us, ever!

Cheers, Eddie

Posted by: Muris Feb 21 2008, 10:33 AM

Of course Eddie,I'm planning do to similar serials with other modes for a while,
thanks for reminding me! smile.gif

hey muris

sorry for the recent pm........i didnt catch the post about pms ,,,woops my bad......but at any rate i think your lessons are great........and everything is well explained...........I realy like the different speeds of the backing tracks.......On the part about more talking.......well lets just say im more of a less talk and more playing type of guy.not that talking is bad or anything laugh.gif that just came out all wrong lol..but i think the lessons would be fine ither way...with or without verbal explainations

But i do have a lesson request............a timeing lesson for tapping and alternate picking combined...Im in need of one mainly cause i cant seem to get the hang of comeing out of a tapping lick into a scale pattern run without my timeing falling all apart.............and you are flawless at it............thought you might want to share your ability so we could all learn.........a lesson like the one you did with alternate picking..........with 8th notes and 16th notes and 32 notes.. that would be great........thanks........

Posted by: ballistic31 May 4 2008, 01:00 AM

Well thought i would jump in on this......He is realy cool i have tried getting some of that down..I am pretty skilled at the ani diffranco style of acoustic playing and she finger picks in pretty similar way. I have mastered alot of her songs I noticed one thing is that you have to get used to alternate tuneings to get all the harmonics right...

What a great lesson it would be though

Posted by: FrankW May 12 2008, 11:31 PM

Muris, when I click on the Super Advanced Lessons icon at the home page, I have to laugh because I see you are all over it. There's a reason for that, because you're super advanced! There are all levels of players, and many lessons for each level and style at GMC. If I were a beginner, your stuff would be too challenging. There are other teachers who can address those issues, but I'm personally glad that GMC has an instructor on your level to address my issues! Truth be told, If you and Marcus weren't available, I'd be on the forum all the time instead of practicing. That's not to say I couldn't learn from the other teachers, because I can and I do. It's just that your style fits me best. There's alot of advanced players out there, and we need teachers too! Give us some more rock/jazz fusion when you get a chance. Keep up the good work, my friend!

My input, keep doing exactly what you're doing....all around excellence!

My turn! Hope this helps:

Are they too hard/too easy?
I find most of your lessons really hard, but this is really a good thing for me. It is a great motivation.

Well explained/bad explained?
Sometimes the explanations are a little bit short, but that's not really a problem since you always answer in the lesson feedbacks when someone has a specific question.

What do you think about topics I've been covering so far?
Many interresting topics covered. I especially enjoyed the Paul Gilbert and Van Halen lessons.

Would you like some specific topic to be covered more?
I bought a few months ago a whammy pedal, but except the main riff of Joe Satriani's Searching song, I cannot play anything. If you got one of these, I'd love to see a lesson with a couple of cool licks using this type of pedal!
Maybe a lesson in the style of Steve Morse also, that would be great.

Do you like features on my lessons?
Nothing to complain about really. I have to admit that I don't use a lot the backing tracks, but the guitar pro tabs are very useful.

What would YOU add or remove?
A lesson on the use of whammy pedals! Otherwise, nothing, I really enjoy all your videos the way they are. Even the one that are way too hard for me are still entertaining, I really enjoy your tone. Lessons like "Rocking Tune - Advanced" are really awesome. If it were a little longer, I'd definitely put it on my ipod!

Could you do a lesson in the style (or exactly like) the boogie section in Junk Medley. That would be really cool. cool.gif

Hi, Muris. Maybe someone asked before, but:

Can you do a Mojo Oro full song lesson? rolleyes.gif

I just listened to that (thanks for the new profiles) and it is awesome! Keep up with the good work.

Sure I can, first thing to do after these busy summer months smile.gif

Hi Muris,
I have only been a member here for a few weeks maybe but I thought I would give you my input as well.

Are they too hard/too easy?

-DEFINITELY ON THE HARD SIDE, BUT MOST OF US STARTED PLAYING GUITAR BECAUSE WE HEARD SOME AWESOME GUITARIST LIKE VAI OR SATCH AND WANTED TO LEARN TO PLAY LIKE THAT. YOUR LESSONS GIVE US SOMETHING TO STRIVE FOR. I ALSO LIKE HOW YOU HAVE DONE A BEGINNER, INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED LESSON ON SOME OF YOUR SERIAL LESSONS.

Well explained/bad explained?

-I THINK THEY ARE WELL EXPLAINED. ONE THING I MIGHT SUGGEST IS TO MAYBE OFFER SOME ALTERNATIVES TO PLAYING CERTAIN LICKS. FOR INSTANCE, ON YOUR B FLAT MINOR PHRASING ADVANCED LESSON YOU HAVE A PENTATONIC SHAPE THAT YOU USE HYBRID PICKING FOR. THIS SHAPE ALSO LENDS ITSELF VERY WELL TO ECONOMY PICKING. YOU MIGHT SUGGEST THAT AS AN ALTERNATIVE. ANOTHER EXAMPLE IS ON YOUR CANON ROCK LESSON YOU USE TWO FINGERS TO TAP THE CHROMATIC PASSAGE IN THE BEGINNING. I USE 1 ON MY RIGHT HAND AND ALL FOUR ON MY LEFT. SEEMS LIKE COMMON SENSE BUT SOME PLAYERS, ESPECIALLY BEGINNERS MIGHT NOT THINK ABOUT THOSE KIND OF THINGS.

What do you think about topics I've been covering so far?

-TOPICS COVERED HAVE BEEN GREAT. YOU ARE A MASTER AT SO MANY DIFFERENT STYLES!!

Would you like some specific topic to be covered more?

-I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A HYBRID PICKING LESSON.

Do you like features on my lessons?

-ONE THING I REALLY LIKE ABOUT YOUR LESSONS IS THAT THEY COVER A WIDE VARIETY OF TECHNIQUES. I FEEL LIKE I CAN TAKE AN HOUR AND FOCUS ON ONE OF YOUR SOLO LESSONS AND I WORK ON ALOT OF DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES. THEN WHEN I GET THESE LICKS MASTERED I HAVE AN ACTUAL SONG I CAN PLAY RATHER THAN JUST A BUNCH OF EXCERCISES. THIS FOR ME HAS BEEN GREAT MOTIVATION.

What would YOU add or remove?

-DOWNLOADABLE BACKING TRACKS. NEVER HEARD THAT I'M SURE, LOL!!! laugh.gif laugh.gif

Some new ideas maybe?

-ONE THING THAT MIGHT BE COOL IS TO HAVE A TOPIC ON YOUR PERSONAL BOARD WHERE PEOPLE CAN POST VIDEOS OF THEMSELVES PLAYING YOUR VARIOUS LESSONS. MAYBE EVEN JUST CERTAIN PASSAGES FROM YOUR LESSONS. THAT WAY YOU COULD WATCH THEM AND MAYBE GIVE SOME POINTERS, ESPECIALLY ON THOSE MORE DIFFICULT PASSAGES. I HAVE MADE IT A GOAL TO PRACTICE THE LESSONS I HAVE CHOSEN UNTIL I CAN PLAY THEM UP TO TEMPO AND POST THEM FOR YOU TO SEE AND CRITIQUE. THAT WAY I WILL FEEL LIKE I HAVE ACCOMPLISHED THE LESSON AND CAN MOVE ON. IT WOULD BE GOOD FOR OTHERS STUDENTS TO SEE HOW THERE FELLOW STUDENTS ARE PROGRESSING ON SOME OF THE SAME LESSONS THAT THEY ARE WORKING ON.

Keep up the good work Muris. You and all the other instructors have gotten me excited about playing guitar again. This is the only site I know of that you can interact with world class players on a personal level. Thanks.

Monte

Thanks for this awesome input Monte. smile.gif

As for Alternatives for certain licks you're totally right,
there are always alternatives for EVERY licks,
it's just that I showed them in that specific way,
like chromatic run in Canon in D lesson,
the idea was to use 2 tapping fingers, not just one.
Same thing with hybrid part in Bb Minor lesson,
But note about alternative sounds fine to me,noted!

Hybrid Picking will be done asap,I promise.

Downloadable Backings are matter of GMC policy, not my own decision. wink.gif

And there are many different topics in my personal board that cointains
many takes on my lessons from various GMC members.
That is still not enough imho and that's why I always ask again and again
for more recordings,to share thoughts with members. smile.gif

I do understand that the idea of your lesson is to play things in a specific way. Like the hybrid picking instead of economy or two tapping fingers instead of one. I only bring this up because I know when I first started I always thought that if you didn't play licks exactly a specific way that you were doing it "wrong". I think it also encourages players to try and figure out what works best for them. BUT, it is also beneficial to play things in the lessons the way you show them played because you are wanting them to practice specific things in that lesson. tongue.gif tongue.gif

Keep up the great work Muris!! I am hoping to be able to post your B flat minor advanced and a take of your canon rock by the end of the month. I am struggling with the hybrid picking in the B flat minor and the alternate picking in the canon rock. Both of these are great little pieces. Will keep working!!!

I would like to know your opinion on my lessons: I think your lessons are great!
Are they too hard/too easy? They are in between intermediate and advanced level although there have been some beginner lessons too.
Well explained/bad explained? Very well explained
What do you think about topics I've been covering so far? I like your style of playing and I was very happy to see you do a funky lesson that sounded great!
Would you like some specific topic to be covered more? Perhaps some more funk!
Do you like features on my lessons? On screen explanations are great very helpful.
What would YOU add or remove? Perhaps a spoken video about lesson but that's mostly cause I would like to hear you talk biggrin.gif
Some new ideas maybe?
More in style lessons (Van Halen, Satriani , Vai etc)

Looking forward to hear your wise words in purpose
of improving quality of GMC,just like always!! smile.gif

Keep rocking Muris! cool.gif

Before i start .. if there are to many plaudits skip them and look for the (***) in which i highly try to be critical or in which im suggesting s.t.

So now that you know that i like your lessons and your style and versatility in real every style.. thats what i realy love on your lessons. Everytime when i listen to a lesson it realy doesnt matter if its for beginner or for advanced.. only the listening keeps me on getting better i think that im subconsciously learning music and music theory only by listening.. thats increddible.

Are they too hard/too easy?
Thats not the point i think they are well portioned if someone has problems with the difficult ones he can easly improve by playing the easy ones and using the metronom for speed and acurracy enveloping.

Well explained/bad explained?
I think they are good explained .. im practicing musik theory at this moment, because i think thats realy important if i wanna get realy good.

What do you think about topics I've been covering so far?
They are very versatile.. and in my opinion allways straight in high quality of composition even more because they are lessons.

*** Would you like some specific topic to be covered more?
I would like to hear something like "tender surrender" or "die to live" from steve vai. Since he plays ibanez and his style is also very versatile it would be a very good lesson on technique versatility. It would be slower but the focus would be more on the accents of the composition. I would realy love to hear something like that from you. I think you would like it as well.

Do you like features on my lessons?
I like everything especialy the fact that you provide many backingtracks on different speeds.

*** What would YOU add or remove?
Maybe one backing track more on the 7 - 10 dificutly lessons with 10 bpm slower.

*** Some new ideas maybe?
I would be very interested on a theory lesson.
Maybe some harmonie lessons like the ones from Lennie Tristano.

PS: Sorry for my bad english im hardly trying to be understandable.

I like your lessons very much. You sound so clean and the techniques you use are very fine.

I have a lesson request. I told you in your Techniques forum my problems with vibrato, so how about a video lesson of it? I'm sure it would be very instructive. Take in mind the beginner people to have a base to improve something.

Thanks mate!!!

Well this is my story;
I have been playing blues for 25 years and been in bands...many bands... cover bands and originals...for as long as I remember and took a break from all for a while...different reasons.
I now , since Dec 2007 have gone to playing guitar again and have come across GMC which I find the Absolute Ultimate.
Now I never been musically trained but played by ear and Tabs and have a strong desire to be better at what I do enjoy so much and GMC do deliver what I am looking for as a guitar player and you are my favorite for tone ,creativity, note choices and shear versatility...
Anyhow like most player I thought I was pretty good until I really looked at the material offered in general on the site and soon realized that I needed some work.
I have practice the Major scale up and down the neck and all the modes in 3rds and 5th and 6th every day for the whole year and am now working on arpeggios and legato ( Ouch...!) My playing has improve considerably but I find the majority of lessons to be very hard. My fingers are tough to break..It takes an average of 3 to 6 weeks to complete a lesson practicing 2 sessions a day...?
Is it me or is it too hard...?
In my opinion the backing tracks should have more slow tempo options and the song should all have the chords showing on the screen; it helps to relate the note with the harmony for later usage.
But the most of all is how do YOU get that good.. is the real question and how do you suggest WE practice.
In other word what is a good routine practice and how often should we do it ( everyday...every other day...)and how to manage practice hours with working hours.
All the topics you do present have great taste and want to be played. they are inviting. But some are just plain impossible to play...I am more of a 4-5 level and am craving for more of it so i can relate. So far my practice also include your lesson on Legato,Alternate picking 3rds,Bb minor beginner and a couple of others related to arpeggios from other instructors. A total of 2hours /day and another 2 hours and weekend a little more to jam and create songs.
Keep providing these excellent lessons. You Rock! smile.gif

Hi Muris,

Are they too hard?
I don't think so. But then again...I am only able to play the beginner lessons that are level 3 or below! I absolutely love how on even your beginner lessons, I feel like I am playing something meaningful...not just a scale exercise!

Well explained?
Absolutely! Some of the best in the site!

Topics covered are very good...quite a variety!

I would like to see you do some heavier sounding lessons...beginner targeted though! tongue.gif

I would like to see some different camera angles if possible like in Lian's lessons. I find these EXTREMELY helpful when I am trying to figure out the proper fingerings.

I would like to take this opportunity to also ask for a lesson request! I just got my cd of Let It Out in the mail the other day...it is killer! I love the second to last song The Water. Would it be possible to do a full song lesson on this?

Keep it up Muris, your lessons are first class!
