Muris,
Excellent playing! I particularly liked your rendition of While My Guitar Gently Weeps. And Blue Note in A was awesome as well.

you got a good voice.

Great stuff muris. I always really liked drunk funk, but seeing you play it live, it makes me appreciate how great of a groove you get going there. Looks like you had a great time.
Posted by: MickeM Aug 3 2007, 08:39 AM
The sound was surprisingly good from a video camera.
I really liked "Blue note in A", that one was flying.
Very good playing, good show! Go Heineken!!
Posted by: muris Aug 3 2007, 11:47 AM

So you mean to tell me that was half a glass of water you drank during "Drunk Funk"? I thought it was vodka
I never enter a stage sober,
Did it once and that was a catastrophy, too much nervosity in my fingers.
We used to have a bass player who always played sober, perfectly well very tight and secure, once he tried to play drunk... oh man, he had to ask me about the set list - what song is next - and after I replied - what key is it in
and he played wrong etc etc
Didn't work at all for him.

Great playing from you and all the guys in the band Muris!
Particularly enjoyed Drunk Funk - makes me want to go and get out my old Steely Dan and Larry Carlton albums it was so good. Wonderful playing and phrasing.
Huge thanks for sharing the videos.

Posted by: Wallimann Aug 4 2007, 05:01 PM
Muris, I'm a new fan.
This is great!
Makes me want to find a band even more now!
Posted by: muris Aug 5 2007, 09:13 PM
Thanks a lot guys!!
Wallimann, indeed it IS a real pleasure to play on stage, specially when you have nice musicians with you,and when you're playing stuff you like.
I hope you'll find some cool crew to play with quite soon tho!!
Posted by: Roo Aug 6 2007, 01:29 AM
Really great! Wow...sound pretty good for a gig mix.
I wish I could sing and play lead guitar like you do.
Isn't that tough to handle on your shoulders all the front performer work. There's also all the logistic work beside to handle before and after.
God, you must be exauted at the end of evening...
Posted by: muris Aug 6 2007, 08:44 AM
Roo my mate,thanks!!
Yeah,I have real problems with that, everybody I play with usually get off the stage dry and relaxed while I'm all wet and tired as hell
Posted by: Gabriel Leopardi Aug 6 2007, 04:35 PM
Excelent Muris!! You have a great band man! Congratulations!
Posted by: Kristofer Dahl Aug 6 2007, 08:40 PM
WOW!!
I am speachless - Muris you are a true inspiration, this will definately go the start page!!
Thanks for sharing - I knew it would be appreciated (how could it not?!)
Posted by: kahall Aug 7 2007, 03:22 AM
Very nice indeed!
I also notice that yes, we all have to learn to play standing up eventually. ;-)
Posted by: muris Aug 7 2007, 05:42 AM
Thanks Kris and Gabriel, appreciate it!!
Kahall, yeah standing and playing might be tricky for the first time or som,but you'll get used to it quite soon...
all we need to do is to stand up
Posted by: GroovinMastiff Aug 7 2007, 10:22 PM
Muris, I love your music! After hearing your playing on GMC snd MySpace, I got your album from iTunes. It was worth every penny, it's great to know that we have a true master of guitar here at GMC.
I hope to hear more of your music in the future...

Pavel, does your bank let you make electronic transfers like IBAN/SWIFT to other European banks (think it only works on Europe)? Might be a way for you to order from Muris (CD Baby though is US)- and possibly get round the credit card/paypal thing. I use it and my Spanish bank doesn't charge me to do it. My English bank doesn't charge if I do it but does if I ask them to set the transfer up.
Just a thought
Cheers,
Tony

Yes, the Blue Note In A was really great; I liked that one a lot. Nice performaces too!

Glad you like it,Blue Note in A is one of my favs too!

Muris, can i be like you when i grow up? amazing. while my guitar gently weeps.. thats what happens when skill and soul collide. when i saw it, i too gently wept. jokes aside, it was amazing. also, id like to see a review of the prophecy 2. is that all you ever use? it seems to sound great. didnt know you could get such good tone without tubes. (just my opinion)
Posted by: Andrew Cockburn Aug 9 2007, 07:00 PM
The more I leanr the more I think that great tone is at least 50% clean playing - high levels of clean playing at that ...

You are right Andrew! I improve my muting more and more and also i am beginning to LOVE the tone i am getting in my solo playing - and the main thing is muting with right hand! That way you can REALLY work on articulation and phrasing!

So buying a Jem and a Carvin Legacy won't make you sound like Steve Vai, but buying a Fender Squier, a Roland Cube, and practicing for like a demon for 30 years will give you a very good chance

Buying equipment like that can only make you loose your motivation! But JEM and Carvin won't help you to sound like Vai - you ARE right here!

yeah, you guys are probably right. i guess im just a gearhead. always searching for great tone.

thanks for the tip!! muting seems to be one of the most difucult things to master. especially on the higher strings. i guess no one could really do a lesson on it, its just one of those things that you have to figure out on your own.

You have to waste those millions?? Why don't you buy me one nice Line 6 HD147 Head?
Btw. check that amp - it's really great and really affordable! For both head and Line 6 Cabinet you pay 1750$ at Musician's Friend!
Posted by: muris Aug 9 2007, 09:14 PM
Thanks folks!
MisterJ,regarding to my live tone,Prophesy has one(1) 12AX7 tube but Mesa 2 : 90 has three(3) 12A7 tubes in preamp and eight(8) 6L6 tubes in amp section.
If we calculate that, there are 12 tubes

Can't stand that digital trash - I want a real tube amp!
(That was for MickeM's benefit
)
Line6 stuff is really cool, but I have the pod already, my next purchase will be a very basic (but not necesarily cheap) tube amp.
Of course I'd love to buy you the Line6 Pavel, but it would cost me at least 1 Lois Vuiton handbag, and i can't afford that as well
Posted by: Pavel Aug 9 2007, 09:21 PM
You would be surprised how many great players use Line 6 amps! Both Rhapsody guitarists use HD147 heads - and they have the money to get a good gear so i don't think they bought it just like that! Kamelot guitarist also uses that amp and he has a killer sound - power metal band! Evanescenes guitarist also plays it and he is known by his heavy riffing stuff so i think it's a very good amp!
Posted by: muris Aug 9 2007, 10:38 PM
They use Line 6 cause Line 6 is paying for that
Joke but has some truth inside...
By the way,no need to look that much what somebody else uses,
just try the amp and see if you like it.
But there's a huge difference between all tube and solid state amps, that's for sure.
Posted by: Pavel Aug 10 2007, 12:03 AM
I can't try it because there is no guitar center in Croatia which has lot's of amps! Especially not Line 6! Rhapsody doesn't get paid for that because they use all custom gear by that Capelli guy from France! I am just trying to find out what the big deal behind: "Tube is better than Solid State" if Line 6 has such great names using their amps!

i bought a line 6 spider 100 watt head last year, and i ended up returning it. lots of stuff sounds good on record, but when you play it, it may not respond to the nuances of your playing style the way you expect. tubes just respond in a totally different way than solid state. better or worse is a matter of opinion. i prefer tubes because i like the way they respond. they seem very warm and ... well... responsive. they kind of play with you. i actually consider my amps almost as much of an instrument as the guitar. solid state doesnt seem to respond to my playing at all. they feel dead and cold. but hey- thats jusst my opinion. solid state has its place, im sure. ive just never found one that stacked up to tubes. but again - its all opinion.

I really like "A story from eastern europe" It gives me this epic feel kinda similar to when I listen to the song "Liberty" by Steve Vai.
Posted by: muris Aug 25 2007, 08:26 PM
Ohh yes Illuha, thanks for bringing it in!
Middle part of that tune(when I put hand on heart in video) is National Hymn of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
