i'm having a lot of trouble making the music i record sound good/professional. it might be due partly to my recording technique, but i'm also a noob at mixing so i was wondering if you guys could give me some tips or advice
I've been messing around with tapping lately and I noticed it's hard to make tapped notes sound as good as my picked notes. Is there a certain tone that makes it easier? Is it high gain, or overdrive, or long sustain? Also, I'm playing 12s; would using a lighter string gauge help? Or do I just need to practice with my right hand to hit the center of the fret harder?
Hi, I just finished recording a new song. It's mostly vocal, so the guitar isn't as interesting other songs I've made, but there's a short solo and the sound quality is better. Tell me what you think...
Hi, I was wondering if I could get some feedback on this song. I posted already in the uploads forum but I guess not many people look there anymore... It is an edited version of this song that I posted a while ago--I took Ivan's advice and recorded with a metronome and added a "bass" track (really it is guitar but I tried to make it bass-like). This is the second song I've ever recorded (the first is here).
What I noticed myself: I still can't add drums, and the sound quality is bad because of my sound card. Besides that, the solo is kind of sloppy but by that point in recording I was tired and didn't want to do any retakes.
So far, when I showed my friends, I got surprisingly negative reactions. Most people will say "it's good" or "trippy" but not directly that they liked it. I'm wondering if I did something wrong, or if I just have a different taste in music than everyone else...
I've actually been a member for a while now but I haven't made full use of this site. I'm starting to develop a style, but I'm not very good technically, so I have a lot of room for improvement. I'm especially interested in learning classical flamenco techniques, and improving my soloing abilities.
I love Kyuss, Yawning Man and desert rock in general, instrumental surf rock, early punk, grunge... and anything spacy or cool...
