Hi,

When doing a "pull-off", as far as i know the common technique is to flick the string downward. However, it seems easier to me to flick it upward instead. Is it ok or is it a bad habit ? I'm not big on legato playing and I'm willing to improve that area of playing, so maybe i have to start on good basis.

Thanks,
Phil

It's okay. Both ways are right always that you're doing this pull off after some bending.

Well I guess that downwards is more natural movements.
If you have lets say straight finger on the string the logical way is to
curve it and that means downwards.
Now, maybe you have too curved fingers on the string already
which surely gives you problems to play it downwards
and you use upwards instead.
So it's more like fixing the other issue, check out how your fingers are placed
on strings and let us know, maybe you could even record a video or take a pic.
