I got Guitar Rig 4 Kontrol edition yesterday. This thing is SWEET! I have only used the preset tones so far but man are they great. Everything was working fine but when I opened up Reaper to create a REC take, I ran into some trouble. The guitar track only recorded dry, and when I added the Guitar Rig as a VST it was a little delayed and out of sync I think.

So how should I plug in and set up everything to play and record properly?

Right now I have the Kontrol foot pedal plugged in via USB. My guitar plugs into the Kontrol pedal and I have headphones plugged into the pedal as well. The Kontrol is my soundcard.

I have a focusrite saffire USB that is not being used currently, with monitor speakers as well.

So again, my issue is that, when I go to record with Reaper, it only records my dry signal. While this is cool, I think when I add the VST after recording, the track gets delayed. I might be able to just drag the track backwards slightly to make up for this though.

Any suggestions GMC?

Hey mate,

If you already have Guitar Rif 4 as VST plugin, why not record it using Saffire?

One simple solution would be to:

1. Choose Saffire as ASIO device (Options>Preferences..>Audio>Devices)
2. Create New Track
3. Insert GR4 as new "FX" on that track
4. Enable monitoring
5. Record

Did you work this issue out? The tone isn't "baked" on to the track with guitar rig, in Reaper, you have to Enable the FX (click on FX and select Guitar Rig). It acts like a plugin that effects whatever track it's on. There are even presets for drums, vocals etc.
