I wasn't aware of this until today, but I found out that MOTU has a line of 3 video interface models, and the cheapest one is just under the 500$, which is low enough to enter consumer market.

It's MOTU HD Express:

It supports HDMI with simultaneous 8 channels for 7.1 audio and uncompressed HD recording, but also important SD legacy inputs like composite video, S-Video, RCA stereo, and RGB composites as well.
