Ok guys, let's go to the next collaboration:
This time it's a hard rock song, and here I expect your wild solo improvisation. Harmonic key is D minor, so you can try a D minor pentatonic, and D natural minor scale .. Conditions are the same as same as the previous collab: One take along with a backing track, and one solo take- just guitar !!! Deadline: 15.October.'11 ! Here's the backing: Hardrock_collab.mp3 ( 1.16MB ) Number of downloads: 312 Of course, the backing is not final, but will serve for your shots ! thanks, Sinisa |

Hey Sinisa quick question I have a take recorded for this, but I want to make sure I understand correctly, you need 2 tracks, one with just the guitar solo and no backing? Also, they need to be in MP3 format right?

O.K. I will try to post my take sometime today or tommorow, I have a little mixing to do, since the guitar is slightly louder than the backing track. Also I was having trouble coverting files from wav. to MP3 but I finally got that resolved. I will try to get it inside the deadline of 15 October (Awesome backing track by the way!)

The final mix!
Guys, sorry if you waited a bit, I had a lot of work these days Ok, participants are : 1. Sean ---- 00:00 - 00:34 2. MarcoPal---- 00:34 - 01:06 3. CasinoStrat---- 01:06 - 01:38 4. Gitarrero---- 01:39 - 02:10 5. TheFireball---- 02:11 - 02:43 HardRock_colllab.mp3 ( 4.44MB ) Number of downloads: 225 First of all I must say that I am more than satisfied with how you played it! Each shot is almost perfect, of course there are few drawbacks, but generally don't affect much to the final sound image, so once again - all respects ! Sean ---- 00:00 - 00:34 I like how you started-with the measure but confident, the solo part is well dynamically balanced, guitar tone is very good and you learned to control distortion ! Keep it up !! MarcoPal---- 00:34 - 01:06 Excellent opening bending, he's almost perfect but you have a little nervous vibrato,or maybe it's just my impression. I like very much sequential phrases that you are played and they fit perfectly, you put them in the right place! Great tone also ! Rock on !!! 3. CasinoStrat---- 01:06 - 01:38 Good solo part, but a bit poor! I will explain - you have kept only one - D minor pentatonic scale, why? It is true that 90 percent of hard rock songs are played in the pentatonic, but here the harmony is a bit more complex, you could use D natural minor scale, D harmonic minor,D Dorian mode, and the solo part would sounded much nicer! But you drew the most out of pentatonic scales, congratulations on that! Gitarrero---- 01:39 - 02:10 You should have to add just a little more of gain! I have the impression that you are on the verge of run out of juice in your fingers!!!! Anyway,a melody that you did it's not bad, moreover, that lead would be excellent - if you hadn't only played the eighths! Rhythm isn't so fast, you should try some sixteenth between! TheFireball---- 02:11 - 02:43 I was amazed! Tone, technique, balance, everything is in place-except the small little details that stinging my ear! At 02:25 -you're late with C# tone, you played it a second after that-and ruined my entire pleasantness !!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks again for participating, the next colllab is these days! Something else guys : I'd like to know what equipment you used to get distortion ? Sinisa |
