Lately the buffering process is extremely slow, meaning it takes as long to buffer the lesson than it takes to actually view it. What is the problem? This started in the last week or so. Before it was an automatic process, click and watch not click and wait endlessly. Thank-you.

No problems on my end. Could be your pc. Make sure nothing is eating up your bandwidth on your network. You might also want to run a virus/spyware scan as that could be the problem. Also, try using a different browser and see if that helps.

I suggest you clean up your computer for starters.

First in your browser: (for IE) Tools->Options->Delete->Delete all
something like that

Then I'd suggest you install, if you don't have one already, a spyware cleanup program. I'm using Adaware ->click here<- which works ok.

Clean up your computer(s) and try again, might be spyware hoging your bandwidth.

If it's still and endless wait, we'll hear from you, ok.

I have the same issue with my imac and a vista machine, both with 2 gigs of ram.
I'm running 16mb/s, fastest that this isp offers. No spyware issues and the machines are clean.
I can stream multiple videos without any performance issues....yes, vai still plays fast without any buffer interruptions of his performance. Gilbert still blares away without a glitch...many more...sounds like hell with all of them going at once, thing is, a great test and no performance issues. Just with the lessons from GMC.

Take it for what its worth, this is a pretty good indicator that its not external to GMC....at least not here.

Can you let me know the download speed for each of these two files? (Located on two different gmc servers)

file1 (US)

file2 (EU)

Aslo - what is your location? Thanks! smile.gif

I tested this myself just for fun, and file2 was downloaded way faster than file1.
Well over twice as fast actually smile.gif

I'm at work and it's a pretty stable connection so I think it's safe to say that Norwegians vote for file2 tongue.gif

They both downloaded with 755 kbps even though file 2 responded quicker and reached max speed faster.

Having severe buffering issues also here in Vancouver Washington, USA. Started about a month ago. Its so bad that I am ready to cancel my memebership as it takes approx 5 minutes per lesson part to load and makes this awsome site extremely frustrating and unuseable. I have tried two other computers with same results also different servers. I also have no problems at any other sites, just here... file 1 -49.6k file 2- 133k

Ive been having the same promlems for the last 3 to 4 weeks, buffer time is approximately 6 minutes per video as described by a previous post. I live in Houston Tx and use Yahoo DSL. Prior to this issue, the videos would play almost instantly and nothing has changed on my pc since this began. I use McAfee anti virus as well as Spybot and AdAware for spyware removal, so my machine is pretty clean. The download speed for file 1 was 40k/sec at its highest but dipped down to 16k at its slowest, it averaged at about 28k. It took about 9 mins total to download. File 2 was slightly faster averaging 30k/sec. I dont doubt that the problem could be with my connection speed but its strange that I didnt have the promlem before. The growing popularity of GMC means more people are accessing the videos and I wonder if that is slowing the file servers down. Im no expert... I dont know, its just a thought. It is quite frustrating though, and im a patient person, its just very time consuming when each video takes nearly 8 minutes to load. Any other thoughts or suggestions we should try?
Thanks,
Jesse

I have no problems. wink.gif

Maybe because I am active while the US sleeps/works?

I think we need to know at what time people experience problems. Preferably in CET format.

I did not want to be the first to mention it, but I have had problems also, often very early in the morning Central time US. That would be noonish in Europe of course.

I did tests, both subjective and checking throughput, the problem was associated with GMC, not other places. Slow throughput at times.

edit: even earlier in the morning, like 4am, meaning about 10am or so British time.

I must say it is probably not GMC fault. Internet IP service is best effort service to deliver packets to recievers as fast as possible. However internet IP layer doesn't make any promises about end to end delay and jitter. Some packets may be lost and some may be delayed and jittered and then dropped again.

As soon as the video stream arrives to congested link or router in the network it gets delayed.
