But I havent ever seen it printed anywhere that its a constant occurance. Like the relative minor is based on the 6th degree of the major scale.... Then underneath it write out the major or minor pentatonic using that same note as the I and the summarize which notes are missing like this A Ionian: A-B-C#-D-E-F#-G# A Major Pentatonic A-B-C#-E-F# 4 & 7 missing Do it like this for all the modes of A Major using the root of the mode as the I and comparing the major or minor pentatonic to it depending on if it is a Major or Minor mode. I'm just curious as to why I never see it as the rule. I need to actually pick up the guitar tonight. Not write out more scales. If we are still unsure I'll write them out tomorrow. And the line goes, C, E, F, A, A, B ( I just chose random notes) If I wanted to harmonize with this in 3rds, I'd go 2 notes up the scale from each note played yes? (cmaj scale = cdefgab) So for C I'd play E E = G F = A A = C B = D So my harmony line becomes E, G, A, C, C, D and this is a major third above the original line? Correct?
