Yea that's a classic Marshall sound. Is that Jubilee? I'm only familiar with the silver jubilee. I got to record some guitar tracks with it and it sounded fantastic.

I honestly thing the next marshall I get might be a modded 800. There are some INCREDIBLE sounding JCM800s with some a few extra mods that aren't intrusive.

but I guess this means you've gotta hunt down a Jubilee.

Very tasty. I honestly think that if you had a Gibson and a Marshall you'd have to work hard to try and get a bad tone.

Well I guess we all fell for it, myself included. According to the guy that posted this, what you hear isn't the amp, but rather Guitar Rig 5. Its amazing how far amp sims have gone. It's also amazing how a visual, such as standing next a Marshall,l can change our perception of tone.

Regardless, I still think it sounds great. If I ever record with an amp sim, I'll be sure to do it standing next to Marshall half stack, just so it will sound better

The first clue was that there wasn't a mic on the guitar cab...

Amp sims have been able to get really close to the miked tone of an amp for along while now, and that's not the hardest part (imo). Where they've often fallen down in the past is the feel and dynamics of an actual amp, which changes the way you in turn react to it, which may mean that it doesn't get the best performance out of you if the "feel" isn't right.

I did a comparison between the miked tone of a Soldano SLO100 and the SLO tone of an HD500 awhile back - anyone care to guess which is which?

When I first heard the vid I was going to post, "yeah it sounds decent - pretty much like any higher gain British amp and an LP. Pretty good but nothing special". *I'm dead serious - swear to god, scouts honor*
I didn't post because I didn't wanna sound negative and also felt it wasn't that important to comment on an 'average and normal' sounding rig.

Note to self ... trust ears and experience.

*As for the SLO v. HD500 demo. I don't know ... they both sound different to me, I don't own either piece and Hot For Teacher wasn't originally played on any of that gear you're using, so ... ?.
I could see myself using both tones for different things and/or layering.

I haven't tried many amp sims, but the ones I have tried always try to recreate the recorded sound instead of the actual sound. They were all meant to be played through studio monitors, so they never "pushed air" like a real tube amp.

As far as the demo you've posted, I've never played the amp, so I really don't know how it's supposed to sound. But I'll take a guess say and the one on the right is the real one and the one on the left is the Line6. I chose it because the one on the left sounds like a better recording, and it's easier to record with an amp sim than to record a real amp
