I totally dig synth sounds on the guitar however never had the dough for a Roland system. I spend a considerable amount of money on pedals though. Inspired by the EHX Effectology youtube vids i grabbed some of my EHX pedals and combined them in the following order. EHX Micro Pog then the EHX Ring THing followed by a Q-tron plus with a Montron Delay in the Qtrons internal effects loop.
I think it sounds quite P-funk like https://soundcloud.com/alone-in-boston/wiesenm-ller-plays-jazz sound quality is not too good because I recorded directly into a handheld device (Zoom H2n) Anyway get the funk This post has been edited by ItSME3: Jun 12 2013, 04:14 PM |

That's great man.
It's really cool how EHX effects can take it so far away from 'guitar' sounds. The synth 'lead' sounds you can get with the Q-tron and a POG are great. This guy also does a really good job demoing EH stuff ... https://www.youtube.com/results?search_quer...ube.ZYwrf9F1oQk -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

I use a weird Boss pedal that IMHO is very under valued and will one day be pricey like the Spectrum and Slow Gear. It's called the Dynamic Filter. It's a crazy sounding pedal.
The only song I know for sure it was used on was 'What I am'. You can plug an expression pedal into it and use it like a wah but I have never done that. The weird solo in the middle is a guitar not a synth. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDl3bdE3YQA -------------------- company contact

I have one of those little yellow bricks too. it was designed for bass and even though you can adjust low pass/ high pass, i have the feeling that the filter doesnt open up on higher frequencies and even if you open the Q up all the way it doesn`t get the "quack " the q-tron offers. it still sounds quite cool though. anyway hold on to it. they became quite rare. someone offered me 250 euros for that thingy. I"m all about "Doing it in Software" So a while back during a collab, I had s similar idea for pushing the tone in to the "odd" area and ended up with this. You can still hear the guitar under it as that's how the patch is built. The synthy shimmer helped it stand out in the mix. It's just a simple Guitar Rig 4 patch with some tweaks.
https://soundcloud.com/techniqueswithtodd/guitar-rig-4-synthetic-apeture It's always fun to see what you can put together in a given package. Guitar Rig and OVERLOUD have enormous flexibility in routing and layering fx. Far beyond what would be possible with the hardware I have on hand. Thank the God's for plugins I know they are not everyones cup of tea, but that's why there are so many cups Todd |

Here's a couple that take it completely away from 'guitar' (though done totally with only a guitar). This post has been edited by klasaine: Jun 14 2013, 02:58 AM -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

I use them as inspiration to try to "Do it in Software". It's a great puzzle to try to recreate these things using software pedal boards. I sometimes will combine AMPLITUDE and OVERLOUD and the pedal board in LOGIC. You can get some amazing sound that would be pretty impractical in the real world. Todd Plus, using software you can 'save' the patch. -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

I've always liked this song.
All the 'sound effect' stuff, pads and noise is guitar. A combo of fx pedals (mostly EH), E-bow, slide, wah, vol pdl and some bit mangling and speed mangling via software. *It was done many years ago (10?) so I don't remember the exact fx or software. Great tune by a Russian film and video game composer here in L. A., Alex Kharlamov. https://soundcloud.com/klasaine2/cry-on-my-name This post has been edited by klasaine: Jun 15 2013, 04:55 PM -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

BINGO!! Even if your using three multi fx plugins like OVERLOUD/AMPLITUDE stacked up you can save each preset and save the DAW project and keep the stack in tact!!!! The wonders of the digital age When I was working more with Pedals, I would make these long diagrams and charts with pedal position, knob values etc. So saving the patch was quite a bit more work Todd Well spiff! Share some soundcloud links! Todd well it took me a minute to get it uploaded (just the first track anyway) but here you go. enjoy (sit back, close your eyes and relax - its a bit lengthy) https://soundcloud.com/fuzzysatan/theflu-virus -------------------- Carvin 6 string bass (walnut neck and body w/burl maple top)
