okay, this is one of my main problems, while learning a song. i tend to use the "wrongs/hardest fingers" and the song just get like from easy to extreme.

for example on this 2 licks what fingers would u use.

h = hammer on
p = pull off

Lick 1

E---------------15-17-19--20-19-17------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B----15-17-19------------------------20-19-17-20-19-17-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
G-------------------------------------------------------------19-17-16-19-17-16----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D------------------------------------------------------------------------------------19-17-16-19-17-16------------------------------------------------------------14--
A------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------19-17-15-19-17-15------------------------17-15-14------
E------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------19-17-15-14-15-17-----------------

Lick 2

h p p h h p p p p p h
E-20-17-20-17-18-17------------------------------18-17-15-17-15----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------G------------------------20 17 20 17-18-17-----x---------------------18-17-15-17-15\13-15-13-----13------------------------------------------------------
G---------------------------------------------------x--------------------------------------------------------------14--------------12--------------------------------
D---------------------------------------------------x------------------------------------------------------------------------15\12----------14-12-14--------------
A-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------15---------------------------E-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, I think it really depends from guitarist to guitarist... I mean, it's not that there's only single *right* fingering, it's all about what you think works best for you. If you still aren't sure, you may watch the videos of the musicians performing (for example, watching Paul Gilbert play that first Technical Difficulties lick and copying that ). But as I said, you might find some other finger placement that suits you better... (for example, I play Adrian's The Trooper main riff using a different fingering than him because it's easier for me)...

My practice when learning new stuff is to try different finger placements, and use the one that I play best when I speed up smile.gif

I can only read-off the first one, but I play that with the middle finger, until I get to 19-17-15 on the A and E, where I use the ring instead of the middle - just feels more comfortable in that awakward part of the neck.

Those are your only two options, so like Dinaga said, try both and see what's better for you!

As the previous guys said, there isn't only one correct way to play this. You must choose the combination that works best for you. I would start with fingers 1 - 2 - 4 and then continue in the following position with fingers 1 - 3 - 4.

Mate, when I start teaching positions to people, I usually let them know that they should listen to what their body has to say about it smile.gif without consciously knowing it, we do not let the body feel comfortable with the positions it would choose by instinct. Take each row of notes and see how you feel best with them and then link the positions slowly, so that you may train your muscle memory smile.gif I guess this is a good start.

D: 4 days, like 30 min. did manage to get 125 bpm with triplets.
using 1 - 2 - 3, but it feels really unnatural to me using that, and i feel complety sloopy using the pinky, that's what natural to me D: cuz the frets seem to small for using 1-2-4/1-3-4

Maybe you should insist on training your pinky a little bit more, if it feels like the weekest link smile.gif they say a team (in this case - your hand) is as weak as it's weakest member..
