Finally a new song done...this time you might recognize the backing! wink.gif

I had a lot of fun recording this tune as I like to have a steady beat to "bounce" my lines against! (if that makes sense) The song is called brutal bump for many reasons, hopefully some of them will clear after you have watched the video! wink.gif

Also Tony here at the forum mastered the track and I am very happy with the result.

NOW HERE IS THE THING:
I know that if you try hard - you will come up with something amazing over this backing. That's why I want you to join the big GMC collab right now!

Thanks a lot for watching!

Nice tune dude! Your bald spot ain't that brutal, at least your forehead doesn't look like a McDonald's sign tongue.gif I've been shaving my head for years and last month I decided to let my hair grow... and not much grew out lool Last I remember I had a full head of hair sad.gif

By the way, you don't lose hair - it just relocates to another part of your body, i.e. your back, nose and ears smile.gif

Kris! Dude! ... that video was a great surprise. Not only is the tune and guitar playing fantastic, but your section on how to think about songwriting was truly educational. I like how you describe contrast as an important part. Very useful I think. I remember once thinking a little on those same lines that a song needs to "rock" but it also needs to "roll" (otherwise you can't call it Rock and Roll. tongue.gif ) But the idea is the same in that you've got to have contrast and even conflict within a tune and that's what keeps it interesting. ... and the song in this video is an excellent example. smile.gif cool.gif

You've gotta tell us how you got such great video shots too. Very nicely done.

Wow thanks for the awesome words James - also you are right about rock n roll, well put!

The video was done shooting different angles against a light blue wall (with some kind of pattern). When editing I found that I could use this wall to create a decent chroma key effect (remove background). I did some research to find a cool background video and I found the rotating globe. With a little effects I could make the globe somewhat "follow" the chorus which I think created a cool effect... Video editing is a lot of fun and there is always new things to learn!

Hey Kris that was incredible! Very entertaining as always. Its rare that you get such great playing along with such an entertaining video. After viewing this and seeing your great explanation on how you do things I can only say that its a shame we do not get more instructional material out of you every once in awhile. Especially on how you come up with your arrangements etc. Of course there are only so many hours in the day and I know things like this take many many hours to produce.

By the way there were parts in your playing that reminded me of John 5. Probably because it had such a country flavor in those parts. He loves to use chicken picken and country lines in his guitar playing. He just uses more distortion. Thanks for the cool vid. The best I have seen in quit a while.

Amazing video Kris and great song! I really liked your licks here and specially the incorporation of hybrid picking! Your instrumental music is getting better from song to song! Great job!!

I'd like to add that this could be the soundtrack of my life! I had a brutal bump two days ago when I was trying to scape from a thief that wanted to steal luciana and me... I hurted my face (in my forehead) and also a bit my hand... I feeling a bit better now so I think that I will start playing guitar again tomorrow. The thief just stole my phone but we had a really bad time. sad.gif

Hope the experience won't affect you for too long, Gabriel. Those are always some bad experiences, which could last quite long in your behaviour and perception. Good luck...!

Re the song, personally I could have written that 11 years ago (text wise, not musically biggrin.gif )... But somehow the baldness didn't proceed with the same speed, so hopefully I'll have another ten year or so with some hair on my head smile.gif
