GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ Gmc On Iphone/ipad

It's a pity videos are not available on iPhone or iPad ...
What's about a mobile GMC ?
Posted by: Kristofer Dahl Jul 28 2012, 07:33 PM
It is in the making.
Our former web agency were never able to produce a bug free version of the GMC iphone app which we have worked on for such a long time.
We have now decided to wait with the iphone app and instead work on a html5 version of the lesson pages. When this is done only minor tweaks should remain before the whole site (video chat excepted) is fully usable on any modern mobile platform (ios/android/wp7 etc)
So GMC should soon work on iphone/ipad (and other mobile platforms)!

Does this include Android too Mr. Dahl

I'm pretty sure the site works fine on iPhone where I am. Granted I've only used the forum but it's seem to work well.

Excellent
It seems flash based web pages will soon be outdated with html5, besides even samsung has announced that it won't keep supporting flash player on their app store. Given that samsung + apple covers most smartphones and tablets these days, I'd say flash will be dead pretty soon.

Awesome! HTML 5 is a great plan as that's where it's all headed Once the site is HTML 5 compliant it should be device agnostic.

If you have a latest version of Android on your phone with installed Flash - you should be able to load and use the site fully even now. Lesson videos should work!
Its so awesome to have GMC always with you!

My wife who is a bit obsessed with mobiles has all three and one or two others.
I only have one and it's a normal dumb mobile.

Yes, Android 4.0.3 and you'll need to have installed Adobe Flash Player app.
But - it seems flash player won't get any more updates in the future.

Even with android gingerbread you could browse the full site. Videos load like butter.
In ICS it works like a charm too.
But flash is supposed to be history in the near future.
I forgot to mention, there are certain browsers for ipad/iphone which try to emulate flash.
I used puffin and I could load flash sites, although not as fast and great as with the real thing. There are other browsers that do the same, just google "flash browsers ipad" or "flash browsers iphone".

Just been on the news here. A major electricity grid went down yesterday taking out a large part of central, North and NE India and leaving 400 Million without electricity. A few other grids are under pressure because of that and may also trip. However officials are predicting that electricity in most major areas/cities should be back on in the next 2 hours.

Can not wait for this.
Sometimes I get "talked to" about slipping off to my music hole in the evenings when I'm spending time with my wife so if I could access GMC on my iphone, while we're on the couch watching Jerseylicious, yeah that'd be great.
Posted by: Todd Simpson Aug 1 2012, 05:43 AM
Given the MASSIVE importance of the Mobile platform, and how fast it's starting to overtake workstation use for web access, (tablets/etc.) It's good to see GMC moving this direction.

Can't wait to see the hologram GMC - video chat sessions where you can sit face to face with your favorite instructor and feel like you're there face to face That would be an awesome experience for certain!

If it works now on android it will keep working.
They are not removing the current flash version, they are just going to stop updating it.

Yes ! Yes !
That's gonna be too good to believe. I mean, we, humans, technology changed so much
What I used to think was only possible in cartoons and comics is now true, video calling
And I think, we'll be able to do Video chats with students and instructor video feed, pretty soon
I am really amazed how fast we are developing.
Its undescribable.

Too fast is not good. I am an admirer of the old ways in many aspects, because nowadays we forgot how to live life as it really is Everything is fast, when in many situations, slow is the way to go

I don't know how many people nowadays take the time to sit on the edge of their bed in the morning and contemplate at the day which is about to begin
That sort of slow. Everyday we rush to work, eat fast - the food has no taste usually, because if it would, we would like to WASTE TIME tasting it - that's the sort of stuff your average dude/ dudette with a 9-5 job has to deal with, sometimes CONSCIOUSLY aware...
I discovered slowness in guitar practice and more recently in sword practice - I had my firs duel yesterday - more of an exercise with a sparing partner, which had no hesitation to poke my ribs when SHE caught me off guard
My slow ritual includes 30 minutes of sword practice each evening in the garden when I take care to perfectly execute all the moves I have learned so far. Slowly but perfectly. When I am done, I feel incredibly focused and can handle all sorts of other focus requiring activities.

Just like Race Car Driving, you gotta drive slow to go fast (when cornering, to avoid under/over steer) same in playing and Kung Fu and fencing! Slooooooooooow is the way to go and build precision. Speed is really just a byproduct.
