The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi Phil! Good job on this one! I can see that your playing is getting tighter and tighter after each take. Your tone is cleaner now so the chords are easier to hear. However, we have a big problem, your guitar is again out of tune, so your chords are not sounding good. It's a pity that you repeated the same issue than the previous take. Be sure to check your tuning before you start a new recording, and if this is a frequent issue, take your guitar to a luthier to set it up correctly.
Your playing is very good on this one, just fix the tuning issue and you'll get a perfect take!

This is a pretty good take. Your timing matches the lesson groove and you seem to fret the chords nicely.
As others have mentioned, please check the tuning of your guitar before recording. First two things that come to my mind about tuning are: your guitar might not be in tune or has tuning/intonation problems ; you might be pressing down too hard with your left hand and detuning the notes/strings that way. Why is this important? Believe it or not, not playing in tune can really become a bad habit easily. I know quite a few young musicians who play in bands and live on stage who don't "play in tune". Basically their guitars are out of tune, yet they keep "shredding". Getting used to playing guitar which is not perfectly tuned or has intonation problems will affect your ear in a big way. Usually players who are not used to tuning their instrument or noticing out of tune guitar have issues with the bending technique and everything they practice (scales etc). Tuning should become a habit until your ear is used to the "correct pitch" so that you can eventually even tune by ear or even compensate out of tune instrument with your fingers on the spot while playing (by slightly bending strings for example etc in order to hit the "right pitches"). Back to this lesson, I'd suggest going for just one more take focusing on : - Getting the guitar in perfect tuning - Not pressing down too hard with your left hand - Dialing in a more similar crunchy guitar tone to the one Bear used in the lesson (try adding a bit more gain or a overdrive pedal to the signal chain) -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net
