I'm not thinking on getting one but I tried the one that you posted in the pic and I really recommend it for adding more gain to your solos. Used as an overdrive is also good but if you play metal and you want more and cool sustain/drive, this is a great choice!

I use TS9 reissue version, and it's my favorite pedal ever. Only one I kept. It adds great mids, and chunky feel on the single notes, really nicely cuts through the mix. Always useful to have in your guitar case/bag.

Here's what I use....


I REALLY like the 10% "boost". Works great live. It's just-enough boost for solos, or to just get slightly more gain. LOVE that pedal!! I had to play a tube screamer at EMULATOR rehearsal a few weeks back, and it made me realize how much I love that pedal.

Bingo That's exactly what a lot of folks use it for. Even guys running a huge Mesa Boogie stack will often use this ahead of the amp head or as an efx loop to add a bit more bite and gain especially for solos. Often, a killer Boogie stack works well at half drive and with one of these on it. A boogie at full overdrive is almost too much gain and the signal can become overly compressed.

It's also the secret sauce for recording killer Bass tracks. This little hottie can add just the right amount of growl to Bass guitar tones. Billy Sheehan has been using it for years.




Don't ever sell it. You may not find another in a price you like! Great pedal. Well worth having on hand. And this is coming from a "Emulation/Software" guy so it has to be pretty darn impressive. My GNX3 does a good fake of the Screamer and it's the only reason I've kept it around.
