Well, as the title says, Im planning to build a jem, of course I will post pics
now my plans are to work the whole summer ( I don't earn much money cuz im 17) With the money I earn I will build myself a nice guitar. for the parts I saw the site of jemparts the only problem is that I can't find a descent neck. Im looking for the pyramid neck. im thinking about swirling because I did it before and It is not that hard, but I also like the colors desert yellow and shocking pink. any thoughts ? Greetings -------------------- |

It's got to have the hole for the hand! Maybe do a variation on that?

Your idea sounds great!
I wish I could tackle project like that. Maybe you can find a used neck on ebay or craiglist? Swirl painting sounds awesome. It can look very effective. I'll be following this thread to see the progress -------------------- Need to ask about anything GMC related? Send me a pm

so yesterday started with the plans, today did some research:
- found a body on a site of patrick sims this one is 450 dollars but it is already painted. I could get it complete without electronics and tremolo for 950 but that wouldn't make sense I looked further for a plain body : wich brought me to this 2 , both 165 dollars main difference is the squere heel, I need to overthink that, what do you guys think ? -------------------- |

I tried to buy a body from patrick sims once, it did not go well. I would recommend you avoid sourcing anything from him, if you google around a bit you should find that he doesn't have a great reputation.

the copyright infringement he cant make all the parts , So he will try to make me a pyramid neck. Yeah so our neck is fixed, now further with the body.. Ed could make me one without the monkey grip Ill first ebay en then ill see... -------------------- |

Congratulations mate, seems like a nice project!
If you want to make a swirl painting, I suggest you practice a bit on a similar plank of wood, it's tricky! -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

I would suggest Korina (also called Limba) as wood for the body. Great sustain, warm sounding and a bit more mids - compared to mahogany. Lovely wood.

Curved heel is more comfortable, plus it's the one Ibanez uses, at least on RGs
