GMC Forum _ Marcus Lavendell _ Nocturnal Vision - Podxt Presets

Posted by: Marcus Lavendell Apr 28 2008, 07:45 AM

Hey guys! smile.gif

Here's the two presets for PODxt that me and Kris use in the http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/nocturnal-vision-lesson/.
Just load them into your PODxt (or PODx3, or Toneport) and you'll have the exact same tone.

 Nocturnal_Vision_2.l6t ( 1.84K ) : 866

 Nocturnal_Vision_1.l6t ( 1.84K ) : 712

I have EMG pickups, so the sound changes a little bit, i can't get your exactly tone wink.gif
I prefer the fist version, and i also tried to mix them together with the dual tone, it sounds good too
thx again smile.gif

I have a doubt about the effects when using a Podx3(live). It says that i don't have the right effects you use (as they are from podxt instead of x3) and I can download a pack of 'em that will bring thoose and even more effects, but I must pay for 'em. The alternative choice is that the Gearbox software will pick up my current effects and amps of my x3 live and try get a kind of "copy" of your effects but using x3 ones. Will it change the sound that much?

Posted by: coffeeman Apr 28 2008, 11:14 PM

Great presets Marcus , thanks for sharing them. BTW for those who use toneport you can use them too.

I'll give these a try sometime. Thanks for posting these Marcus. Your tone is always bang on with what the song requires.

awsome solos! I´ll try the presets later =)

Sorry, I have no clue if it will change the sound much! I had no idea you'd had to pay extra to get the PODxt effects huh.gif
Anyone with a PODx3 who can comment on this? unsure.gif

Posted by: Mackietao Apr 29 2008, 01:07 PM

I`m just guessing but I´d like to think the x3 could handle xt presets and get if not exactly the same almost the same sound. Some amp modules and such may be a bit upgraded for better sound. When Monkey had a function where you could copy over presets from computer it never complained about missing effects.
I´m guessing it some kind of trick to make more money. smile.gif But who knows... Just try it man smile.gif

Well, It was very late at night and we ate lots of pizza and I admit we had few beers as well laugh.gif Then Kris had an idea that we should make a song on the piano, and we came up with this basic chord progression. Then we just grabbed our guitars and jammed to those chords. smile.gif

This was a great experience since it was the first time me and Kris wrote a song sitting next to each other. biggrin.gif

I agree - also the Gothenburg pizzas were a great experience as well! laugh.gif

Great .. i got your secrets now ... Pizza !! I will order a bunch and see how my compositions turn out. Wish me luck !! smile.gif
I think both of you are used to work alone on songs, but to have a direct interaction is still something else i guess.

To come back to the topic ... i think the POD XT preset of then "Evening Blues" Lesson goes well with this tune as well. I don't find the topic were it was posted, but i love this one and use it a lot.

Wow cool presets, they're totally different to your usual solo sound marcus yet in the song they sounded very similar. In fact i couldn't tell you'd used a different sound you just used the same guitar

Hi Steve,
Yes, it's different from my usual tone, but I like it smile.gif. And remember that some of the tone also comes from the fingers wink.gif

Posted by: Toni Suominen May 20 2008, 09:44 AM

I just tried these presets and I just love them! Very screaming and tube-like, they sound very similar to Eric Johnson's tone (which is just awesome!)

Posted by: Marcus Lavendell May 20 2008, 09:33 PM

Thanks Toni! Glad you find them useful smile.gif
